It's a nickname they use for themselves, literally it means, people from the flats.

In the Basque Country 45% are Spaniards and Basques, 45% are Basques but still want to be in Spain because it's convenient, and 10% are the ones you describe and feel oppressed (and they like putting bombs to fight that "oppresioN").

So, get your facts right mate, I haven't got anything against you neither. But that's just bóllocks, since Spain is Spain, Basques have been in it, most ships that conquered america and the bloody Spanish Armada were constructed in the basque country. This independentist movement was created in the XIX century, not before.

As for the oppresion you are supposedly suffering, you're british because Spain and England reached an agreement in the Schengen treat. That paper treaty has been respected by Spain, and you have the second best army of the world to back your citizenship, so I don't see how you're oppresed.

I'm happy the times are better now than in Franco times, with the fence and everything. I just think that nationalist fights are stupid. I just want you are whatever you want to be, and I hope you live, enjoy and drink in Spain as much as you want. As you see national feeling is not important to me!
