Would like to see what the general feeling among lfc fans is about the club being sold today. Are you confident that the club is in safe hands?!

Personally i'm happy with what i've seen from the two americans. They seem like genuine sports fanatics who'll have the best interests of the club in mind when making important decisions and wont use the club like a toy in the way abramovic is with chelsea. Its going to be a very important year for the club in terms of our advancement towards challenging the top 2 in england both on the field and in the transfer market

I voted yes, listening to the conference Gillette and Hicks
said all the right things. I obviously dont know them, but they
seem very genuine in their takeover of LFC.
The main things for me are they are buying LFC without any
debt, open to listening to Raffa about the direction of the
team and funding his future buys. They also seem to really
want to connect and make happy the fans of this
illustrious team. lastly, keeping moores and parry on board.

I oppose this takeover and hereby announce the creation of a new club, henceforth to be known as FC Reds Of Liverpool.

I honestly do not wish to cause another race-row, but will this takeover affect our fanbase in the Middle East?

The Yanks are despised in certain quarters of the globe.

Personally, I look at it this way:

If they're good enough for Moores, they're good enough for me.

I think it's weird. Gillett owns my favorite hockey team and at the same time one of the arch-rival of my favorite football team. Weird.
But I hate both of Hicks's teams so I'll focus on that.  :D

There is another option.

Dump Chelsea and support Liverpool.

Depicted from liverpoolfc.tv by Paul Eaton 6/2/07

Tom Hicks: I can categorically say we have no interest in a ground share with any other team. We are going to build the finest team for the finest stadium in the Premier League and that is Liverpool.

George Gillett: I don't know how this story got started. It didn't get started with us. I look forward to meeting the officials from Everton some day because we are both in this wonderful city, but I have never authorised anyone to talk or act on our behalf relative to the possibility of ground sharing. I have no idea where this has come from. It was not true and we can categorically deny it.

The first time I met Rick Parry I asked him the question and that's the only time I can recall the topic coming up. He looked me in the eye and said that if I ever brought that topic up in a serious way again then I could have his resignation because he wouldn't be involved with or support that kind of discussion. That was very clear and so the subject never came up again from our side.

More recently someone close to the club said that if the topic did come up then it was the surest way possible for us to be lynched.

We want to build the greatest facility for the players and the fans and make this the best location for players to play and for fans to come.

I'M HAPPY:D

I'd be very interested to see the final designs for the stadium. I don't know if the section on LFC's official website shows the final concept. It needs to be a monument. A real work of art. Not a souless concrete bowl like Arsenal's place.

If I have to be honest I'm not too happy.

I don't like the first thing they do is to change the name of LFC to Liverpool Reds, I hope that in TV when I watch the score I won't see Liverpool reds 2 - 1 Glasgow Rangers.

I'd like them just to help in the money stuff, but if If I've learnt something in this life is that nobody gives money for free and no interest. A new stadium has been the source of troubles for many clubs, I'm just a bit worried about all this, but I just rely on Parry and Moores, I'm sure they wouldn't let the club go to the bad path.

I think the "Liverpool Reds" thing was just a slip of the tongue.

Although, it does sound pretty cool.

Im going to reserve judgement until i see the new stadium take shape. And until i am in no doubt as to the direction this club is heading toward.

Nothing was/wasnt said in that conference yesterday that you would/wouldnt expect to hear a new suitor say...while attempting to present themselves in a favourable light. Magnanimous? - yes. Ambitious? without question. Liverpool's interests at heart? well, that will remain to be seen over the coming years.

Sure, the pair of them made no bones over their lack of 'personal' predilection, over the club. From a supporters stance. Fine, they dont have to be die hards. Do they?

But neither did they come across as being interfering or controlling. (in a press conference, watched by millions around the globe they didnt anyway)

Time will tell whether Mr Moores did indeed make the 'right' choice.  For his part, we can ask no more than the service he has provided in keeping this ship relatively in touch with the footballing world for the past era...an admirable task, limited only by his resources.

On the whole im happy with the 'notion' of the Hicks/Gillett combo. What we now expect, is to see the plan materialise into reality.  Without compromises and free from clause and stipulations, otherwise not presented in a gathering, where the only intention was to say the 'right' thing to the masses, who were eager and almost 'desperate' for positive news. Especially after seeing another bid go down the drain, when it was nigh on signed sealed and delivered.

Our hope is. They now go on and prove it. When that happens, i'll be among the first to congratulate the two americans. Until then, its a case of  'For what we are about to receive....' for me.

Not scepticism. Not cynicism...nor any Pan-atlantic androphobic indifference.....just plain common sense, which as a fan/supporter/follower...(follower?) that will be Gillett and Hicks then!

in any case..its prudent to NOT go on the rooftops just yet.
I wish them every success in achieving their goals and objectives, 100%. As well as the continued input from the present chairman and the C.E.O. It might well be a match made in heaven.  Best of luck to it.

YNWA.

You would be really surprised lando as how many middle eastern fans (including me) loves Liverpool.

in the Middle East its either:
1.Barcelona
2.Mancs
3.Real Madrid
4.Liverpool
5.Juventus
6.Inter Milan
7.AC Milan
8.Arsenal

and now chelsea..

even if DIC tookover liverpool, i dont think it would make a difference in making more fans in the middle east.
