Dont need to tell me mate have a word Mr Dodd. He was probabaly :censored: when he wrote that to be fair.

Fair enough Rafa deserves 100% of the credit when credit is due but when he makes mistakes these have to be aknowledged aswell. The fact is that he :censored: up with the selection tonight (i read somewhere that both managers aggreed to field part kids lineups but not sure if that was true) but even still they played with no passion. I felt sorry for Stevie as he really wanted to get us back in but we it got to the point where we couldnt even pass the ball without giving it away. Im sure it must have seemed like the longest match ever conceding all those goals but surley even the most technical of fans on here can see that we are lacking quality in more than a few places. Im not just talking about tonight either. This is something that needs to be addressed in the summer but for now we just have to make sure we qualify for Europe and give it our best against Barca.

lakes has always been critical...

but sometimes this mixed and very emotional reaction to certain results can act as a springboard to better things.aka Burnley in 2005

To be honest a lot of you need to stop being so delued and get a grip. We have a good set of players but to compete with all the other teams on more than 1 front with a level of consistensy you need to have that quality in all areas of the team. Not only the 1st team but also waiting on the bench. Admitidley Rafa has made some bad buys but at least hes always got them out quick when recognising that there not up to the task but larlgy its been down to having to settle for second best options because of financial restraints.

You misquoted me as asking for Rafas head but you were drunk so ill let that slide. :D

However this is a forum and people are free to voice there opinions, that is after all the idea of a forum isnt it or are you lot still in nursery? Get back in your fu.cuking prams you bunch of kids and sprout some balls and brain cells whilst your at it. You all go on your f.ucking high horses just beacuse you live in Liverpool and you think that gives you some sort of superiority to other fans who live outside Liverpool. However you clearly show your true and childish behaviour on nights like these all beacsue you cant stomache someones opinions.

Ill say what the f.uck i like and if you dont like it you can kiss my big brown :censored::D Silly c.unts lol

Bav London I did not quote you as saying "Maybe Rafa should go" - you did say " I am worried about 4th". It was a general swipe at admittedly a large variety of responses. Yours was not as bad as others but still hit a nerve.

I do not think Rafa is above criticism, I am a big supporter of Rafa because of what he has done at the club since his arrival. The last 2 results have been bad, very bad and Rafa has to shoulder some of the blame for his selections. The whole "Dudek - I made a promise" is poor, but hindsight is a wonderful virtue.  Dudek has been cack for us in the  games and has been really bad. However the defending has not exactly been first class has it. The team, the club collectively have to take the balme for 2 unsatisfactory performances - including RAFA - but to suggest we're not a good team or we should get rid of our manager is bordering on the insane and I will guarentee you that would not even be whispered at the game.

Don't make this a OOT'er debate its not. Smeg, Lando, S@int all live out of town and  I dont live in LIVERPOOL, so dont start a mega-fecking arguement about OOT'er etc.

If your worried about 4th your supporting the wrong team.

I have every confidence that we will finish in the top 4 and perhaps even 3rd or 2nd if we have a bit of luck but i must admit a number of factors do leave a small thought in the back of my mind.

1) We are having bad luck with injuries
2) We are creating a lot of chances but not finishing where we should be, its all well to score 4 against Fulham at home but when we make 20 chances against Blackburn away and dont score you have to worry about how many points will be lost over the course of the season.
3) Some of our top players are performing on and off this season. Im talking about Carra, Alonso, Riise. Garcia is one of those that gives the ball away and misses a good chance maybe 4 times in a match but then scores a blinder and the negatives are forgotten about. Although hes scored some nice ones this sseason the level of inconsistency he demonstrates has increased and with Bellamy yet to fully spark we need those goals form midfield.

I was not having a pop i was saying that i am concerned. A few scousers last night where i was watching it were asking for Rafas head but that is simpley not the answer. a European cup in your 1st year is enough to vanquish any critics of this methods but this is not to say he is immune to miskates.

When all these factors are coupled and you look at how tight the top 7 area of the table is, i think it is a fair point to be concerned until we have built a cushion of a few points.

Yesterday was probabaly not only the clubs lowest point in recent time but probabaly one of Rafas lowest points career wise. The only posatives i can draw up is that Momo is on course for a return on time and that we can only get better.

Peope asking for rafa's heads are utter di.ckheads and saying we wont make the uefa cup etc etc is fu.cking ridiculous. OK the result was absolutely shocking, and rafa has to shoulder some of the blame along with the players. But there were enough decent players out there who should have done a hell of a lot better than they did.

Ok our fringe players arnt a patch on ar.senals but some people forget that the gooners are not a skint team who happen to find these outstanding youngsters for cheap because wenger is so fu.cking good at scouting, it is because they can afford to pay good money for these youngsters, i mean walcott for 12mil, all the others must have cost a few bob aswell. Rafa doesnt have the funds to snap all this top class talent up and thats where the difference in ability lies, people thinking that ar.senal just pluck these kids from nowheresville and make them good are deluding themselves, it costs money.

Rafa should have a strong word with himself and the players because last night was simply not good enough. Rafa is the man to take us forward, his ability as a manager is unquestionable and with the right backing(assuming the DIC deal is done and dusted) he will sign quality youngsters and better players just like ar.senal do. He is not above critcism but he doesnt deserve some of the utter sh.ite written on these boards sometimes.

Some people really do have short memories and need to take their head out their a.rses and look at the bigger picture.

I reckon rafa has got his eyes set on ol big ears anyway so bring on barce...

Right this result is over!! same as the Fa cup its over!!

Its probably the wake up call Rafa and the team needed!! I don't want Rafa to go he will come out the other side stronger and won't make the same mistakes again. I have no doubt about that. We all make mistakes the very best of us in Rafa's case!!

But come on the players that played apart from Gerrard, fowler, Bellamy, Hyppia were playing to an extent on there own. Dudek made mistakes and i have to admit his days here are over. Palleta was very poor not good enough for this club yet, peltier not good enough, guthrie not good enough, Aurellio questions are still out on him. Rafa gave fringe players a chance to shine. But they blew it simple as that. above players i mentioned did not play with any passion!! Its proved basically that our squad is not good enough. We just don't have enough quality in the fringe players i mentioned. Rafa made mistakes maybe, but he gave these players there chance and nobody but these players blew it themselves.

The only thing i would critisise last night was that Rafa brought Carra on ahead of crouch when we were 5-2 down for the injured Garcia when we had nothing to lose but to bombard there box. Maybe Rafa by this time was in so much shock he didn't want to suffer  more humiliation and Arsenal to score 10 cause that was looking the case on times. Thats the only reason i could think he brought Carra on because Dudek,Palletta, peltier were playing a shocker.

But come on Reina, finnan, Aggar,Carra,Alonso, Stevie, sissoko, hyppia, kuite, crouch, bellamy, pennant, Risse, etc are the real players who play with there Red liverpool hearts on there sleeve!! They play with hunger. But its showed we need Carson back as no2. a back upto finnan at right back and another centre back. Neil has passion and hunger so will be good addition, we need a left sided player also in this transfer now with the injurys to Gonzales and Garcia. Whats happened to Anderson so much mentioned of him last season and still not seen on the first team sheet.

So hey true Liverpool supporters if you care about this club and are " A TRUE LIVERPOOL SUPPORTER" stay possitive we will come good Rafa is a top class manager, and will deliver great things again. We need our investment without doubt to bring in quality and i mean quality players to add strength to our team/ squad. This year this will happen i have no doubt. But stay strong get behind the manager, and we will come through the other side. Please have Faith!! If you don't then do one!!!!!!!!!!

By which god-given divine right do you have the authority to tell people to Fark-Off and support some other clubs?

Some of the posters you tar with this all-enveloping-brush of a post have been supporting LFC for longer than you've been alive........

If you don't like what is posted, ignore it... no need to go on an ill-advised rant which alienates.

Theres enough arguments and fighting on these boards as it is.... we're all LFC fans with the exception of a few wind-up merchants..... Your post smears everyone who disagrees with you regarding the Rafa debate, regardless.....

It's time for us to get real
Jan 10 2007
Exclusive By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

RAFA Benitez says Liverpool must learn the lessons of last night's Carling Cup humiliation, as he urged the club to match Arsenal's ambition in the recruitment of young talent.

Benitez, who apologised for the 6-3 defeat, is deeply frustrated his efforts to create an equally powerful reserve line-up has been thwarted by lack of funds.

But the boss insists he was right to stand by his team selection at Anfield, and argued the gulf in class was a result of Arsenal's ten years of careful planning and recruitment.

He says Liverpool's prospective new owners must take note if they want the club to match the Gunners.

"The first thing we must do is say sorry to our supporters. They were magnificent and deserved better," said Benitez.

"Secondly, although we made mistakes in the game my players worked hard and I must recognise this.

"But when you analyse the situation, the conclusion which worries me is Arsenal could pick nine reserves and score six goals at Anfield. We had seven players of the first team and could not win.

"There is a lesson in this for the whole of our club. If you want to compete at the top level, you must be able to spend a lot of money not only on your first team, but on the young players and reserves.

"Arsenal spent £4m on Diaby, £4m on Denilson, £8m on Walcott and Baptista is a £22m player.

"They have been working for ten years to build a strong squad, and we have been working for two years. My scout department has done an excellent job, but sometimes we go too slow as a club to make signings we need, and when we do there is not a lot of money.

"Today, for example, we are signing a young Italian keeper on loan with an option for later. We've also been working for many weeks to sign the young Scottish player James McCarthy.

"These are the deals we are doing because we want to build a squad of similar quality in the future, but without spending big money it's difficult.

"The money we sign is for the first team, and when you look at the quality of Reina, Sissoko, Alonso, Bellamy and Crouch it's clear all are worth more now than when we bought them."

Benitez has come under fire for his team selection in the wake of the latest cup exit, but he's standing firm.

"I used Momo Sissoko in the Carling Cup against Birmingham and lost him for four months," he said.

"Last night we believe we've lost Luis for the rest of the season and Gonzalez and Warnock were injured. Steven Gerrard has a dead leg and Xabi Alonso a tight hamstring.

"What is more important? The Premiership, the Champions League or the Carling Cup?

"If Arsenal can play nine reserves and score six at Anfield, people should be asking why is this. It's not because of one game, it's because of many reasons. I picked a team with seven players from the first team last night.

Do people expect me to play Finnan every week? He has had to play in every fixture this season. The players I used were good players."

Out of all the hyserical posts last night and this morning, only 2 or 3 members have actually called for the head of Rafa Benitez and one of them(Lakes10) has been doing that forever.I think it in the best interests of the forum and rational debate to ignore such rants.
