Food is always ordered and presented in abundance, yet people rarely eat when having a dinner conversation in the movies.

Car chases always take place in the weirder parts of town--the district where there's a fruit stand every five feet and glass movers carry big, unwieldy sheets of glass across streets at random, all day.

Anyone with a French name is required, by law, to speak with a posh English accent.

What, in the real world would be considered stalking and result in a restraining order, in the movies is considered "persistence" and usually results in a scene requring L-shaped sheets!

After having a nightmare the person will always sit bolt upright

when asleep and the phone rings the person will always be under the covers fully and will 9 times out of ten drop the phone

People always have the exaxct money for all cabs that always show up unless its raining or they really need one.

they dont even look at the money they are passing. they just give it to the cabbie and leave.

Bit of an obscure one here but it's a pet peeve of mine...

In car chase scenes in L.A. (the Italian Job remake being the classic example), the chase always takes place downtown--amidst the high rises--but that doesn't stop the film-makers from throwing in at least one shot of the chase with those same high-rises half a mile away in the background. And, then, in the next frame they're right back downtown. What's in those minis...jet fuel?
