LIVERPOOL VS TOTTENHAM - all the build up here

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Fri Sep 22, 2006 11:56 am

They're absolute sh#te away from home we should beat them comfortably enough. Should and will are two different matters though, they'll probably be tough to break down for a bit with their 4 central mids protecting their defence.

They're gonna be without Berbatov and Lennon, so i'd expect us to win the game. They have got good players, but if we perform well then we should win the game no problem.

I'm looking forward to seeing the battle between Zakora and Momo actually, they are similar style players from what i've seen.

I kinda feel sorry for crouch as he was in a rich vein of form for us and england...but now he can't get a game for us.

This is how i like to see the team line-up

                     Reina
  Finnan   Carra   Agger   Aurelio
  Pennant  Gerrard   Alonso  Garcia
            Kujt
                         Crouch

- Sissoko looked tired against newcastle..so rest him for this match.
-Bring on Bellamy later in the match to really kill spurs...
- Would like to see gonzales in the bench instead of zenden (at least i know gonzales got potential...can't say the same for zenden).

i agree with you in everything!

I can see Crouch coming in (probably for Bellamy) and Hyypia for Agger.

Spurs striker ruled out of Anfield meetingSep 22 2006

By Adrian Curtis Daily Post Correspondent

TOTTENHAM have been dealt a further injury blow with coach Martin Jol confirming that £10.8million striker Dimitar Berbatov could be sidelined for a further fortnight.

Berbatov has not played since their 2-0 home defeat by Everton at White Hart Lane because of a persistent groin injury.

Spurs have not scored for 343 minutes now and have equalled their worst start to a league campaign for 14 years.

But Jol's hope that Berbatov would be back to add some much-needed punch to their attack against Liverpool tomorrow has been dashed.

There is growing speculation the striker will need to undergo surgery to cure the injury but Jol insists they have no plans at present.

This aint good news hunny.  Id rather he was playing other than Mido and Defoe or even Keane aswell.

But anyway.

I really hope Raffa doesn't change it too much. You cannot drop Kuyt, because he is in such a good run of form, he looks eager to score again. Personally I would rather have Bellamy than Crouch, but if changes are needed for the C.League game, then so be it!

i reckon 2-0 to us with stevie G and crouch getting the goals, thats if crouch starts, if kuyt starts instead the i back him to score.

We should beat these and i'd play stevie in the middle with xabi for this one, give momo a rest, i think for this type of game we need one of our central midfielders to get into the box and stvies the man for that coz when xabi and momo play they both tend to be reluctant to get forward and because momo is the one who usually is in a more advanced role winning the ball whilst xabi dictates the play from deeper we lack that threat coz momo isnt really that type of player yet who can be an attacking threat, hes a ball winner first and foremost and a few times this season i've seen us get a cross in and none of our centre mids have been in the box so theres less of a threat, momo is class though but i'd just give him a rest for this one.

Having said that though, spurs are a very good passing team and their good at keeping possession so momo could be needed to get the ball back but i think their not as good as they were last season especially with loss of carrick and the now injured lennon.

the main threat for us will be robbie keane, quality player

If we don't win this after Everton beat them 2-0 at their place it would be doubly embarrasing.

Hoping for a 2-0 win and Reading to beat Man U 5-1

Liverpool - Reina, Finnan, Riise, Hyypia, Agger, Gerrard, Sissoko, Gonzalez, Alonso, Kuyt, Bellamy.

Subs - Dudek, Aurelio, Crouch, Carragher, Garcia.

That team gives me a lot of confidence, a couple of changes but very close to our strongest team

Thats not a bad line-up IMO, Hyypia for Carra ? Well its clear Rafa wants Agger settled in the side as quickly as possible getting comfortable with first team footabll. Its also good to see Gonzo given an opportunity to have a go, if nothing else he'll work for the cause. After Xabi's class performance in midweek its obvious he's back to his best which is good.

C'mon the reds  :buttrock
