This is the only thing i didn't understand! I think it is because the Lebanese Government can't risk a full scale war against the Israelis. Plus, the Lebanese Army aren't being allowed to enter the south because of the hizballah militants found there.

Hizballah is a very strong political party in Lebanon and it has a much higher military power than the Lebanese Army.

The Lebanese Army are defending beirut from Air attacks with their anti-air guns, but they are useless!! thats why the Lebanese army is not effective against air units.

Heard on News 24 tonight that a ceasefire has been set for Monday morning.

The Israelis agree to this and so does Hezbollah..............although Hezbollah say they WILL continue fighting if there are still

Israeli soldiers on their land...........

ofcourse shanks72!! what so you want hizballah not to defend their land? Israel are invading, hizballah are defending!!! They should get out of our land or pay the price! its like in your body, when a foreign bacteria enters your body, your white blood cells fights them (thats an example)!

Hezbollah have every right to defend Lebanon if Israel are deciding to invade, Hezbollah was born out of the occupation of Lebanon by Israel.

Spot on Luke.

By the way Luke do you see hizballah as a terrorist organization?

As a Lebanese who isn't with any sects, i see hizballah as a resistance force against any enemy invasions, I really don't understand why Israel and the U.S label them Terrorists.

Obviously, if the Israelis are still fighting, then Hezbollah has a right to defend itself.

What I meant was that it sounds like Hezbollah don't want to give peace a chance. What if the Israelis are not fighting, but trying to pull back and find themselves still on Lebanese soil?
After all the ceasefire will not be implemeted until the early hours of Monday and right up until then they are officially still at war.

Who said hizballah don't want to give a chance of peace? Today Hasan Nasrallah(hizballah leader) said that he is going to back up any plans that the Lebanese government will implement and will help the UNIFEL troops and the lebanese troops to get set up in the south.

So you think Hizballah will attack when israel will retreat? no! they aren't that dumb! Hizballah said if Israel stops their agression (but right now they havn't!) they will stop but they have to immidiatly pull back their troops.

As far as I am aware it’s only the U.S, Israel and Canada that recognise Hezbollah as a terrorist organisation, Britain’s official stance is that Hezbollah are not a terrorist organisation.

Hezbollah fighting Israeli soldiers in Lebanon doesn’t make then a terrorist organization as far as I am concerned. There rocket attacks have been a direct response of Israeli air strikes. Northern Lebanon is very westernised and Hezbollah are mainly based in the south so I don’t know what’s with the bombing of northing Israel.

I’m sure that there are sections of Hezbollah that have a terrorist mentality but on the whole they seem like a genuine army trying to defend their country. If Hezbollah views are that all they want is to protect their country and defend its territories then I don’t see how they can be called a terrorist organisation.

Israel are continuing to make ground in Lebanon right now and said they wont stop until Monday when the resolution is expected to come into affect, if Israel are withdrawing from Lebanon then why in the hell would Hezbollah attack them, the whole existence of Hezbollah is for the purpose of getting Israel out of Lebanon! If Israel retreats out of Lebanon then this will end, all be it after an awful lot of suffering to Lebanon and to a lesser extent Israel.

Agreed with you Luke. the Northern part of lebanon is very westernized because of the major christian population who lives there.

Any organization have some people with terrorist mentality and I agree with you. The leader of Hizballah (Hasan Nasrallah)doesn't have this mentality and is a very intelligent person. He has vowed to aid the UNIFEL troops and the Lebanese Troops for any demands they ask and will help them set up easily and without trouble. That doesn't sound that hizballah are a terrorist organization!  if it was Al-Quada then they wouldnt care and would send in an army of suicide bombers to israel.

I hate Bush when he linked Hizballah with Al-Quada to the Terrorist plot that was about to blow up 9 planes. First of all Hizballah and Al-Quada are enemies! They just hate each other. Finally Bin Laden once criticised hizballah and condemned them.

Hasan Nasrallah was extremely critical of Al Qaeda and the September 11 attacks. The only difference reason that Hezbollah are being labelled as terrorists and radical is because they don’t operate under the name of a state, as far as I am concerned Israel is committing state terrorism, it seem as long as you are a state you can do pretty much as you like.

I hope that Israel retreat out of Lebanon and these hostilities stop, Lebanon will have an awful lot of rebuilding to do after making such good progress over the last 5 years, they really were a thriving country and were becoming a genuine tourist destination, its going to take some time for the country to move on from this.

Israel and Lebanon both have a responsibility to give their children peace and hopefully they will have it. I really feel sorry for the young people of Israel and the surrounding countries, they are growing up with a deep hatred and somewhere along the lines someone will have to break the cycle.

Yeh Israel are commiting Terrorist attrocities, creating so many massacres in south of lebanon and in Beirut. I think Disarming Hizballah is more of an internal issue. Hasan Nasrallah right now will feel the pressure from the Lebanese Government and I think they will disarm their weapons, but that doesn't mean the end of Hizballah! Remember that Hizballah is part of the Lebanese Government, Thus the party will be a political party and will enjoy political freedom in the government.

Hopefully some of our fellow arab countries will help us rebuild our country and make it once more again an excellent tourist destination.

I really don't mind making peace with Israel, Fouad El Seniora, our Prime Minister have put this idea on the table in the government, but the hatered will stay in me, i won't forget what Israel did to my country, I finally understood my Parent's hatred to Israel.

I hope my future children (if i get married and get kids) won't experience the war I have experienced.
