Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

It seems to me that Rafa is more than keen on getting Alves.
Maybe he can use the Juve situation to leverage a decent price?

Our ticket prices are also lower meaning less revenue.

Ticket prices in Europe are cheap yet the Big clubs still have funds.

I look at an example of a Zambrotta for instance.  Now if he came avaliable at say £12 million.  Could Rafa buy him at that price?

Yes but those big clubs have bigger stadium capacities than we do.

Zambrotta won't be available for 12 million and do we need him? Madrid,Barcelona and Chelsea can offer Juventus alot more than 12 million and considering the situation they're in, the player will go to the highest bidder.

Not saying we need him just asking if Rafa did want him could he buy him.

They are pouring millions and millions of pounds into players but with very little success on the pitch and we all know that is a recipe for bankruptcy. Admittedly we don't know the state of their finances but Newcastle must be using a large chunk of their gate income and merchandising profits to supplement their spending.  'Spurs have just signed a supposedly lucrative sponsorship with this Mansion lot and do rotate their shirt sponsor quite regularly but that can't allow them to get massive sums of money from such short term deals. I think with them it will eventually come down trying to maximise the amount of money they can make from the transfer of one or two of their top players. The mancs are currently trying to get carrick and are supposed to be offering around £15 million for him. This could represent as much as £10m profit on a player that they may already have a replacement for in their vast squad whether he's of a similar quality or not.
We may not be setting any records in the market but we are picking out quality for the money we are spending instead of casting a wide net and hoping to find a gem in amogst a possible pile of crap.

i think you'll find that they (leeds) spent too much dosh on ridsdales goldfish, thats why they nearly went bankrupt

We dont need a new training ground, but could we buy one if Rafa wanted a change ?

Far as i can see we are in the same position that arsenal were a few years ago, most of there money was going into their new stadium, which meant they could not spend huge amounts on transfers. Our stadium is going to cost $160mil, which means we need to be smart in the transfer market.

Reyes was very very expensive. Wiltord, Henry, Jeffers all cost over £10millon

**Series of stupid comments edited out by me **

Jeffers - 8 million
Wiltord - 13million (my apologies)
Henry - 10.5 million (and again - sorry)

Dear me I am a numpty - I apologise - Where there hell I got a couple mill from is beyond me

:help

But still we paid 10 million for alonso, 6 for luis, 7 for mr crouch 6 for bellamy, 6 for morientes - Its not like we aren't spending decent money on decent players

Who cares? I only think we need 2 or at the most 3 new players, Im happy with the squad we have now, theyve gelled and I dont think we are far off being a championship winning team.  Ive never been more optimistic. :)

Are the bitters a bigger club than us then?
They have spent more in the transfer window than we have  :;):

Everton

Andy Johnson (£8.6million)
Joleon Lescott (£5million)

Liverpool

Craig Bellamy (£6million)
Mark Gonzalez (£4million)
Gabriel Paletta (£2million)

Plus we bought Gonzales ages ago.
But we arnt finished yet whereas they are  :D
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
