Well how much are we talking about for him, surely his value has gone up after the world cup he has just had, he was brilliant against Portugal yesterday and if Bayern where thinking off getting rid of him then they will be looking for proper money. £8 million or is that to much?

Hamann will probably be going to Man City instead of Bolton now on a two year deal. Glad he wont be going to that sh1t ale house team. Would prefer him to stay but it looks like Rafa wants a younger player for this position.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has reportedly made an enquiry for Atletico Madrid's talented youngster Regalón Alpaca.
Regalon has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in La Liga this term, and Benitez has been impressed with the progress of the player, who is expected to make an impact on Atletico's first team next season.

Benitez prised Antonio Barragan away from Sevilla last summer and has an excellent scouting network in Spain keeping tabs on any potential stars.
Atletico are said to be aware of Liverpool's interest, but are keen on keeping the player at the Vicente Calderon.

He is talking about Mascherano. He plays in Spain and is one of the most highly rated defenders around. Surley you will have heard of him Dawson???

And as for Hargreaves i doubt Bayern will let him leave now tha Ballack has left.

I heard M'Boro are sniffin around him but come one lets be honest would you rather play for the best team in Germany or a semi good team in England.

In fact he will probabaly be the captain now at Bayern now that Ballack has gone to Chelsea.

Mascherano is a central midfielder and plays for corinthians in brazil  ???

This is why I will never ever listen to bavlondon - lol you crack me up fella!!  :D  :D  :D  :D

Gutted to see Didi go, he was a loyal servant to the club and had some brilliant games for us, although he was injured every Xmas?!?!

I reckon Owen Hargreaves is a brilliant player and would welcome him at Anfield.  And I am not basing this argument on his one good game for England!!

He can play in a number of different positions and would be an asset to any Premiership club. he is fast, athletic and a good marker. He reminded me of a Yorkshire terrier in that Defensive midfielder role and would be a great addition at Anfield. However Rafa never pays over the odds and Hargreaves would be about 5m too much at the moment.

My thoughts....  :lookaround

Hargreaves wouldn’t play enough, if we signed him. Xabi, Momo and Gerrard are going to start the majority of League/European games, Hargreaves would maybe play around 10-15 games tops. We're not going to pay the sort of fee he'd command for a backup squad player.

I can't see us signing an older fella who is happy to get limited games (e.g. Boateng like johncraig mentioned), as surely Rafa would have kept Didi if this was his plan?  There aren’t many 32 year olds going around who are as effective as Hamann is in his position.
So I'm pretty sure Rafa will sign a young unknown like Regalón Alpaca from Atelico Madrid or Somoza form Velez.

Hargreaves would be a waste of money, not necessarily because he isn't good enough, but the amount of time on the pitch he'd actually get wouldn’t justify the millions we'd need to spend to acquire him. TBH I don’t think he’d want to come here anyway, unless he were guaranteed regular first team football, which we can’t give him. He’d be better suited to stay at Bayern.

Anyway, it’s hardly a major priority position at the minute. A right-winger and striker are more important. Rafa is probably more interested in getting a left back as well, so I can’t see much money being spent on another central midfielder. It’ll be a kid like Somoza or Alpaca.

Hargreavs is not the answer and even if we wanted him, becasue of his status as a first team important player at Munich he would cost too much, especially as we are strapped for funds as it is until Sissy is sold. Not that id want him anyway.

Because he can play in that position and does so from time to time for Valencia.

The director has also come forward a while ago and said if he wishes to leave he may for the right price.

Im also pretty sure he only has a year and a half on his contract so he would not cost that much.

And apart from that the reason I said him is because Rafa can double him up as a winger as we have apparntly signed that Somoza fella from Argentina who is also a CM.

Aimar can't play as a defensive midfielder, he can play as an attacking midfielder, but his tackling and marking are not strong points in his game.

Unless Rafa plans to sell Luis, Aimar isn't what we need.

Give it up Bav FFS.

I'm sick of reading about Aimar, so let's clear a few things up.

1.  He cannot play central midfield, he'd get eaten alive.  He's about 5'5'', can't tackle, can't head and can't mark.

2.  He cannot play on the wing.  He's not the quickest and his natural tendency is to cut inside, not beat a man and cross the ball.

3.  He is a second striker or a player 'in the hole'.  He has great passing ability and vision and is ideally suited to finding space between opposition defence and attack.

4.  We will not be signing him so the above is pointless.  No need for him and Garcia in the same squad as they're too similar in their style of play, with the exception that Aimar is more likely to find a killer pass and Garcia is more likely to score himself.

Benitez has never publically expressed any desire to sign Aimar and if you do a bit of reading you'll find that the Argentinian players at Valencia (with the exception of Pellegrino) did not even like Benitez (althought they knew he was a damn good coach), so the chances of us ever signing Ayala and Aimar were pretty non-existent and it was the press who kept generating these garbage stories.
