Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby red37 » Thu Apr 27, 2006 5:12 pm

for those interested in trivia (albeit worth shouting about)!

currently we are....

3rd with 76 points
Highest achievable after Saturday's games: 2nd
Lowest could fall: 3rd

and some notable acheivements to be proud of:

Won the last nine in League and Cup with an aggregate score of 26-5.

Won the last six top flight games against Fulham (5-1 h), Newcastle (1-3 a), Everton (3-1 h), West Brom (0-2 a), Bolton (1-0 h), Blackburn (0-1 a) and West Ham (1-2 a).

Won 10 and lost one of the last 12 Premiership engagements, keeping seven clean sheets.

Failed to score in one of the last 12 top flight confrontations (0-0, home to Charlton on 4 March).

Targeting eight Premiership victories on the spin for the first time in 18 duels, since 10 in a row was achieved between 29 October and 31 December.

Won 23 Premiership matches. Only Chelsea (28) and Manchester United (24) have won more.

Lost just six times in the top table. Only Chelsea (three) and Manchester United (four) have been beaten less often.

Shipped 23 goals in the highest League. Only Chelsea have leaked fewer (20).

Kept 22 clean sheets in the highest League this term - more than any other club.

Gone 14 top tier encounters since a score draw (1-1, home to Birmingham on 1 February).

Completed 12 in the uppermost echelon since losing by more than a single goal (2-0 defeat at Charlton on 8 February).

Recorded just one goalless draw in 32 Premiership matches.
Their 36 League games have yielded 74 goals (51 for, 23 against). At 2.06, it's the lowest goals per game average in the highest League.

Kept clean sheets in seven of the last 12 Premiership matches, conceding one goal in each of the other five games with the exception of the 1-2 loss at Arsenal on 12 March.
Awarded more penalties in Premiership matches this season than any other club, with the exception of Arsenal. Both have had six penalties, but while the Gunners have converted three, the Merseysiders have knocked in four.

Liverpool's home record is inferior only to Chelsea. The Londoners have accumulated 52 points at the Bridge, the Reds 45 points at Anfield.

Conceded only seven League goals at Anfield - the tightest home defence in the top division.

Unbeaten in 15 home League encounters (13 wins, two draws).

The 1-4 reverse to Chelsea on 2 October is Liverpool's only loss in 18 home League games this season and only defeat in 25 Premiership matches at Anfield all told, trailing back to January last year.

Kept clean sheets in 12 of the last 15 home top tier contests.

=============================================

:buttrock  well improved this season... long may it continue!!

Considering chelski scored 4 of them in one game and 1 was an own goal that is a remarkable record

i reckon we are 3 quality first teamers away from bursting the blue bubble. and the difference since last season for me is the fact that...we just dont look like losing very often now.

more strength
more resiliance
more adaptable
more cunning

and more confidence.

the things i think we are lacking in is genuine pace/creativity and clinical finishing.

and its not far off. maybe we can find someone out there who possesses all three qualities. gonzalez looks good for a kick-off!.

How many more clean sheets do we have to get to beat the record for most clean sheets in a season including all other competitions?
