There should at least be a limit to the amount of players any team can register.

Any player with an half a$$ IQ can realise that going to chelsea is a huge risk when u look at the squad they have.... i am sure a LFC fan like wallcott will make the right decision...

1)Chelsea - Too hard to break through.
2)Arsenal - sinking ship
3)Scums - LFC fan playing for scums ???
4)LFC - best choice

I agree with the Rock
At his age I like to think he'd listen to his Dad more than some parasite of an agent ,hopefully his old man would put us before the mountain of cash Chelski could offer ,  Surely the fate of S Wright Phillips is in itself enough of a warning on the likely outcome of any move in that direction.

At his age its easy to get persuaded to a false sense of security by the angent aswell.

For all we know he may be gullable and choose the big money offer, but I hope not.
I wouldn't be suprised if he went to spurs. They have a relatively young team so it wouldn't be too hard to fit in or break into the first team in the short term future.

I hope I'm wrong though, I'd be ecstatic if we sign him

Surely the chance to join your favourate team and have a chance of winning domestic and European silverware is enough to persuade Theo. I fear though that with the influence of the agents, they may force him down another road. Watch this space though!!!!!

Ive heard that southhamton are willing to sell theo. But there looking for bout 15 mill. He'd want to be bloody good for that sort of money at his age.Id say if ryan giggs was only starting out now and you saw him at 17 you jump at the chance to sign him for 15 mill.might be worth taking the chance. Then again it could be the biggest waste of money since united bought veron.

15 million is too much for a non-premiership tested player....rooney played in the premiership for a couple of years before moving for 20 (+) million....

Wallcott hasn't done anything to justify 15 million.

BTW, i heard he can leave for 3 million... where did this 15 million come from ?

It seems Walcott is in a very strong position with Southampton since he has not (yet) signed a professional contract. So our supposed £3M bid seems reasonable, given that the alternate for Southampton might be to accept a tribunal fee.

Walcott can easily dictate where he wants to go since he is not bound by a contract, which means Southampton's power is diminished. Obviously Lowe wants as much as he can get, but it doesn't always work like that. I hope Walcott has his head screwed on and makes a footballing decision. If the football side of things is right, the money will follow. Chelsea are a bad bet because a lot more accomplished players than Walcott have been frozen out there. Arsenal look a good bet from a footballing point of view (Wenger has a good history of developing players) but then of course, so do we.

Given that Walcott is a fan (judging by his quotes about the CL final) I honestly think we have a very good chance of signing him. And £3-4M (tops) seems good business to me. If Southampton do not like it then they can see what the tribunal sees fit to compensate them with.

I have noticed that George Burley has softened his stance on Walcott over the past week or two. At first he was a lot more trenchant; now it seems he is preparing the Southampton fans for the departure of young Theo. If he comes to us then we might well have quite a player on our hands, though I am trying to keep calm about it since many a youngster has failed to build on a promising start to their career.

Living on the south coast i went to the Saints - MK Dons game on Saturday. This kid is different gear. Lighting quick, great touch, a big bag of tricks and an instinctive finisher.

Only rumours but the word around the club (Saints) is that Liverpool would be his favoured destination should the lad decide he wants a new club. Personally i think he would be better off sticking with Saints for another year or two. I figured a big club would buy him and then loan him back to Saints for at least another season but that seems unlikely if they are forced to a tribunal to decide the fee.

£5mil for this kid would be an absolute steal in my opinion. Rupert Lowe is more a business man than football man. If he thinks for one moment that he will lose Walcott for peanuts at a tribunal he will sell him now to the highest bidder. Unfortunately chelsea will force the price even if they are not really interested in buying the lad.

I predict that someone will end up paying around £7-8 mill for him.

Sorry but i disagree with you there Scottbott. I think his development would increase several fold if he were training with us anyway. Whilst he is young Rafa can teach  him things im sure Burley cant. ANd anyway evemn if Chelsea bid 20M what makes you think hes going to go there if thats not his preferred club. Liverpool should offer them 8M rising to 10 or 12 after a certain amount of games or goals.

My concern with this relates to Carson, Lad turned down millions so he could play regular football with us, that hasn't happened, this Walcott lad probably wants to make a name for himself and he will probably get the same playing time at Liverpool and Chelsea, with the bloody agents these days following your heart simply isn't an option (excluding the Gerrard situation)

I kind of agree with what you're saying mikopool but I think the opportunities for an outfield player are always better than that of a goalkeeper. Carson was always going to struggle to hold down a first team spot unless he was exceptional when he got his chance. For Walcott his opportunities for regular football would be far greater as he'd be competing for one of 3 or 4 places, not just 1.

Hope it's just a 'tour'

Walcott linked with Arsenal move

Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe visited Arsenal's training ground on Thursday as speculation grew that Theo Walcott could join the Gunners.
Lowe confirmed his visit to BBC Radio Solent but refused to comment further.

The Saints chairman had previously said on the club's radio station that he could not give any "copper-bottom" guarantees that Walcott will stay.

Walcott's agent Colin Gordon told BBC Sport: "Our only concern is Theo's best interest and development as a player."

"We want him to stay but I cannot give any copper-bottomed answers and say he will be here," said Lowe.

The striker has a pre-contract agreement with the Saints to sign a professional contract on his 17th birthday in March.

Lowe remains confident that Walcott will commit himself on 16 March, but admits he would be powerless if the youngster decided he wanted to take the plunge into the Premiership.

He added: "In the same way that supporters have jobs and sometimes move on, if he feels he is better served by a move then that is a matter for him.

"We hope that we are the right club to give him the right career path to progress. If he feels that then I'm sure he will stay.

If at any stage he wants to go then that will be a matter for him and his advisors
Saints chairman Rupert Lowe

"We want to get the best from him and for him to progress and flourish here, as he has done so far.

"But if at any stage he wants to go, then that will be a matter for him and his advisors and those he talks to."

Although all parties insist that money is not the main issue, BBC Sport understands the south-coast club are prepared to make Walcott the highest-paid teenager in the country.

Lowe said: "I'm not going into contractual details but the issue is he is still a scholar and signs as a pro at 17.

"All things being equal, that should happen. He is a young lad who will listen to his advisors and parents, and everything they say has got to be taken into account."

Walcott's representatives met Lowe, Saints director of football Sir Clive Woodward and academy director Huw Jennings earlier this week.

Saints' fear is that Walcott could break his pre-contract agreement and leave the club. Any compensation for his development would then be decided by a tribunal.

Charlton were awarded £1.2m by a tribunal when England star Jermain Defoe tore up his pre-contract agreement to join West Ham, who later sold him to Tottenham for £7m.

If Walcott signs a professional contract with Saints, it will give the south coast club scope to cash in on him later, with fees of up to £10m being discussed.
