Thats your opinion this is mine. I've seen both play enough to pass my judgement. I think Morientes is better all around. He's a proven international player, and he's produced the goods at other clubs.

Whether he at the end makes the same sort of impact he's done at Madrid and Monaco, we will see but to me he's a better player than Defoe.

I think his touch is better than Defoe's, and he has better awareness. Defoe might be faster, but Morientes is more intelligent. His link up play is better than Defoes, and he's a threat in the air.

It is hard to compare the two, because they are different types of strikers but Morientes imo is better than Defoe. I couldn't personally care what you have to say about that, where as it's eating up inside everytime somebody disagrees with you.

Wow. A bit of tension i can feel. I don't know why people fall in love with average players. We sold Baros recently. He was definately a more accomplished striker than Defoe with better stats and international experience. Defoe? He cant even get past Mido or Keane at the moment. His all round game has limitations and his price tag is way above what you expect for a player of his quality.

I admit, at the moment I think we are lacking a killer up front. Morientes is in decline and a bit off from what I would like to see in a striker. Not enough power and pace. Sinama may become a good striker, but he is not good enough yet. Cisse is a strong fast player, but alas with little brains. So he will most likely never make it in a top team. I think Rafa has a couple of players he would like to sign. Kujt is one of them. Defoe is not one of them.

I like Morientes he showed great commitment yesterday, but the fact remains by playing both of them, we pose absolutely no threat when through balls are played through for either Crouch or Morientes to run on to. I think Defoe would be a good option to play off either Crouch or Morientes, just as I also think Rafa should give Pongolle a chance to see whether he can perform this role.

Maybe your view of Morientes is still of the Zaragosa striker or the player that graced the Bernabau or even the one that enjoyed a great loan spell at Monaco. Morientes does show awareness and a lot of desire in fighting for the ball but I don't think I am being controversial when I say that generally he has been a bit of a disappointment. His touch has been erratic, sometimes sublime, sometimes woeful. I have been a huge Morientes fan over the years and still think he has a lot to offer Liverpool, but I right now, if a comparison was to be made between Morientes and Defoe, Defoe for me is the better player.

I think my statement is clear. I'm not talking about how good a partnership one of them would form with another striker, I'm simply talking about their overall ability. Morientes may have had an erratic career here with us, but to me he's a better player than Defoe.

As Lando posted earlier, last season in January if you had asked people which you would had wanted between Morientes or Defoe most would have said Morientes.

Morientes still posses the ability he had at Zaragoza and Madrid. To me he's a better overall player, though it's difficult to compare the two. He may not have pace, but pace doesn't make a player.

There's nothing that will change my mind, it's my opinion and I'm rightfully sticking to it.
