somthing is puzzling me
are we to pay any money in this deal as
Jan Kromkamp cost £5million (is that right)
and we were looking at getting about 2milliom for josemi

they only bort Jan Kromkamp at the start of the season (is that right)

Sounds like he'd be a good swap for Josemi if he does agree personal terms.

Sorry to change the subject but they also have Simao listed a LW which I mentioned a while back and everyone said no he's a RW  ???

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez revealed language problems have prompted him to swap Spanish full-back Josemi for Holland defender Jan Kromkamp.

Benitez confirmed he has reached an agreement with Villarreal over the swap deal, which is expected to go ahead after the holiday programme.

And it is the problems both players have had in learning a new language which has prompted the transfer.

Kromkamp, 25, has struggled to settle with the Spanish club since his summer move from Alkmaar.

Now Benitez will bring the World Cup prospect to Anfield, allowing Josemi - his first signing when he took over at Liverpool 18 months ago - to return home.

Benitez said: "We have an agreement with Villarreal, and if we can get an agreement with both the players then we will swap them.

"Josemi is a right-back with some problems here with English, and Kromkamp has problems with Spanish at his new club.

"Maybe this swap will be good for both of them. Josemi is happy here, he's a good professional, but he sometimes prefers to talk in Spanish and to do that when he is with the Spanish players here.

"Kromkamp has the same problem at Villarreal with the Spanish language. We still need to talk to both players, but in a few days maybe he will be here training with us.

"He is a strong full-back, aggressive and offensive. He can play as a full-back or a wing-back, but I would rather now wait to make sure the deal can be completed."

Kromkamp has played in the Champions League this season, and will be remembered in Manchester for the incident when United defender Gabriel Heinze was injured playing in a group match earlier this season.

Benitez said: "Josemi had interest from Seville, but Villarreal have now talked to us and we have a deal with them but still need to talk to Kromkamp.

"It is very difficult to play in another co :censored:ry and he has had trouble learning Spanish.

"He is maybe too offensive for a defender there because they need to strengthen at the back.

"Josemi has improved his English, but for him and his family it has been difficult. Kromkamp has the same problems because I think 100% of the team at Villarreal only talk Spanish, no English, and that has been really difficult for him."

The Spanish boss conceded he is still searching for a centre-back to strengthen his squad.

"I still need to strengthen in the centre of defence, we have four or five options we are considering.

"It is always difficult in the transfer window, but in January more so. Teams are settled and playing and if you want someone who is doing well for his team it is very difficult to buy them.

"Good players are at big clubs and that is hard. You can only look for players at smaller clubs."

Hope it works out.
I havent seen anything of Kromkamp but Dutch players in general are versatile and if he has been playing regulaly for the national team then thats a big thing.

Josemi is an accident waiting to happen, i dont doubt his commitment but the sooner he is replaced the better imo.

Anyone who crocks Heinze is great in my books as well  :D

As a dutchmen and a big Liverpoolfan I think it's agreat deal for everyone. Kromkamp got all the skills to become a firstteamregular for Liverpool. He's got pace, is a sollid defender, is a good attacker, a real teamplayer, got an excellent workrate and can still improve alot. I think in time he will be a valuable player for Liverpool.

Yer he played against the bitters and the mancs in the CL so he will be Cup tied, dont matter though.  He's better than Josemi and its not a bad swap TBH a dutch international for Josemi.

I don't mind that he's cup tied, it helps/forces him to adapt to the English game a bit better. Allows him to concentrate.

Great attitude, shame about the ability.

Adios, and thanks for your efforts for us. I hope you do well in your future endeavours, Josemi.

thats a good point, one thing about josemi is that he`s a 100%-er. i remember that horrific clash he had in the monaco away game where he was cut badly and when you watch the incident again there was no way he was pulling out, he was running at top speed and had no intention of slowing down!
his willingness to go to ground though often left us in trouble at the back and whilst you cant doubt his heart his tactical nous sometimes came into question.
if he does go i wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts in the red shirt.

I think the problem with some fans has been because he was part of the Owen deal, more was expected from him.The general attitude at the time was if Owen was going for 8 million, then this lad must be worth 4/5 million because there is no way we would give Owen away for 8 million plus a donkey. To be honest a donkey he was and although the donkey gave 100 per cent.A donkey trying to be a race horse was never going to happen.
