F*ck off at the end of the day he played for them scum cu*ts and this fella has no place having a memorial thread on a LFC forum, no matter where he is from, im i gonna mourn the day Gary or Phil Neville die? No regardless of them being english i dont know them and nor do i give a :censored: about them or George Best or anyone else who played for them Shower of cu*ts.

This is a liverpool forum and if you want to mourn the position George Best is in now fu*k off to a manc forum or a Northern Irish forum cos there is no place for it on here, in my opinion.

This thread should be fu*ked off as soon as Pos.......Wonder how many Manure forums had threads dedicated to the life of Emlyn Hughes when he died, not many.

He played for the enemy and are arch rivals and dead or alive he always will have.

:censored: you off This isnt a memorial thread -it was only a statement by Barry .George Best was  up there with the Maradonas and Peles of this world,he wasnt a Gary neville or ryan Giggs so show some respect for the magician he was .He alone took the game to a higher level. And one more thing-If another Best was to emerge-and he wore the red of Man utd or even Blue of Everton -that would NOT cloud my judgement on an exceptional talent.

Hardly class The Nevilles as the same calibre as George Best!

That's a joke of a post, I thought you were a decent poster in the past, but you've let yourself down with this one.

Mentioning Phil Neville and George Best in the same sentence is an insult.

You say not many man u forums will have dedicated a thread to Emelyn Hughes and you are right.  That's what separates Liverpool fans from those fools.

Eff off to a manc or Northern Irish forum?  Well in case you didn't notice this is a general chat forum within a Liverpool site, not many of the threads are about LFC.  Direct your venom elsewhere mate :no

gary mac,you need to think about the comments your making. I know Best played for scumchester therefore he was once part of the enemy but so fucking what? This is 2005 not the fucking 15th century you barbaric wanker!
Despite who he played for, he was one of the worlds GREATEST footballers and as supporters of the greatest football club in the world I suggest we repspect his career, football wizardry and pure class that he had when he was a player. Ignore the other aspects of his life and for fuck sake take off the blinkers you nobhead.

I don't agree with the Best support here. Being born with a talent does not excuse/justify/cover up the fact he is a total pr*ck.
I'm sure Saddam is good at some form of sport, but I certainly won't mourn his death.
Being gifted at something doesn't automatically give you the right to be an a*sehole. Just as being the one to raise the level of a sport doesn't. It has to be someone, and lets be totally fair about this - it wasn't through his own effort that he was so good, it was pot luck.

Saddam is it now? :laugh:wtf  When i judge a player i try not to let his off the pitch antics cloud my judgement. I dont think of Diego Maradona as a drug taking cheat-i think of him as a fcuking genius-nothing less. Its easy to do :D  Total :censored: or whatever else you wanna call him boy- On the pitch -he was the best British player ever bar none.
Dont listen to bad press about anyone cos it seems, when your at the top they just want to see you fall and some people want to believe some newspaper stories and not others ,depending on whether it suits them.Ok He was no angel and im sure the press had a field day with him-but they cant take away what he did on the pitch- aye pure luck it was

john craig wrote:I wonder if some of you would be so venomous in your replies if you weren't English.  Seems to me many on here have trouble accepting that the greatest footballer Britain has ever produced was from the comparitively tiny country of Northern Ireland and not England.  Most of you do concede that he was an exceptional player, but do you appreciate just how exceptional?  I doubt it.

Bottom line is that alcoholism is a disease and there is a genetic element in a lot of cases.  Best's mother died an alcoholic, and it's a trait he has obviously inherited.  He left home at 14 to go to united, earned a hell of a lot of money for his age, was a nationwide pin-up, and enjoyed a drink, who wouldn't in his situation?  He lived in a world where every time he walked into a pub people wanted to buy him a drink.  For a guy who has alcoholism in his genes, what chance did he have?

I don't agree with him getting a new liver, but don't blame Best for that, blame the laws that allow it to happen.  If you are on your death bed and can afford life-saving treatment, are you going to turn it down?  Are you fu.ck.

I don't agree with his violence towards women and I won't try and defend that, I'm not saying he was a top human being, but remember this.  The English media has enjoyed nothing more over the years than putting Best down.  Nothing to write about?  What's George been up to?  Send a couple of boys down the pub and get them to ply him with drink, then take a picture of him sleeping it off on the park bench.  Because that sort of thing went on, no doubt about it.  He may get the violent head on when he's pis.sed, but nothing like to the scale of what the tabloids make out.

And now, when the guy is lying on his death bed, some uninformed :censored: come on here and feel the need to share their wisdom on how he deserves to die??  Shower of w@nkers and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

In 20 years time when it's Gazza, an ENGLISH footballing hero, lying on his death bed after falling off the wagon spectacularly and after a life of binge drinking and wife-beating, remember what you said about George Best.  Let's see what you say then.

I don't give a fu.ck where the guy is from, Irish or not, at the end of the day he p1.55ed his life away and now he's paying the price........ SIMPLE AS!

The difference between Gazza and Best is that Best has wasted an organ which was donated to him, yeah Gazza is no angel and done some bad things in his time but he had his bout on bad health and changed his lifestyle so he stayed alive, where George Best was donated an organ and continued to get rat ar5ed.

No sympathy from me (apart from for his family)

SIMPLE AS?!  Oh well why didn't you say so before, we needn't have had this debate.

I don't care if you sympathise with him or not mate, and I'm sure he won't lose any sleep over it either.

Oh don't you love humanity!  Let's not forget we are talking about a man's life.  Some are too quick to say ahhh fuck him, he played for United, or was an alcoholic.  The guy is dying, have a bit of respect - it's still a human life.
