So far in just over a season and a bit, we are 57 points behind Chelsea.
We are currently four points from bottom and we have reached October.
We can't score goals.
We sold and failed to buy proven goal threats.

We missed out on the cb and rw we were promised all year. He is not above critism, if it wasnt for the magnificent 7 minutes in Istanbul people would not be singing much praises, I will probably get slammed but I dont care, we need an ex red onboard to give Rafa some advice in the prem, we all know the clubs in the prem them that get promoted them that are likely to be relegated, Rafa wont know with only being in the UK for just over a year.

Anyone agree with me that he needs a bit of advice on the teams we face week in week out in the prem? Maybe Kenny or Tomo, I am possitive if he got help and advice with these teams we would be a lot better off.

In the european games he has it spot on and we could even win the CL again, but I do worry about the premiership.

I have no doubt Rafa is the man, yeah ok his tactics aren't workin at the moment but I'm sure he'll sort everythin out

Rafa is the man who bring hopes to all of us but the reality is........Money is the only power in nowadays football. From the analysis from the internet sources, roman can buy 202 Zizu and almost all the team in EPL. Jose is just step in the Chelsea with money in his hands and he's totally :censored:

. Remember now all the quality players in Chelski were from Ranieri coaching age. Lampark,terry and Duff were under ranieri's training and even before he leave chelsea, robben was his last valuable buy.

I hope the we can forget about the defeat of Chelsea at Anfield. Just move on lads, impossible is nothing and we're the only team that Chelsea afraid of.

No we are not, they arnt afraid of anyone and all the winding up mindgames from our camp before sundays game is not the way we go about things at Liverpool, and I am afraid it all came back and hit us in the face.
I prefer us to do the talking on the pitch not in the media, let the big 3 carry on with there mind games, cause I for one dont bloody like it.

I think in his time at the club, releasing Phil Thompson may prove to be Rafa's biggest mistake. I agree with Lynds on this one, though I know he has got the fella on the bench whose name escapes me right now to advise on all things British. Tommo's record stood up against any manager we've had in the last 15 years when he was briefly in charge and he has much to offer IMHO.
I'm not privvy to all the training ground gossip like some of the people on here and would be interested to find out if he was generally popular or nor with the players and staff (not counting Robbie Fowler obviously).
While everybody apes the Chelsea 4-5-1 and respects the Wenger model of nurturing cheap youngsters from abroad, it's strange that clubs with foreign managers don't also copy the use of Pat Rice and Steve Clarke respectively.

the people calling for benitez's head after sundays game is obviously a ridicluous knee-jerk reaction. but people coming back and asking how anyone would dare question the manager is equally knee-jerk. winning the champions league in may does not make the guy above criticism even though it was a phenomenal achievement.

is it so terrible to ask difficult questions about rafas tactics in the premiership? are we all gloriously happy with the 4-5-1 at home? is it not obvious that despite our european form we are not effective in the premiership?

to me the attitude of 'in rafa we trust' smacks more of a line from animal farm than rational (if there is such a thing) football support. to just go along saying 'its ok, rafa knows what he's doing, he'll get it right soon...' is denial in the extreme. at times it would seem like - in the premiership - rafa doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't totally earn my trust.

know i have to say that i personally like the guy and think he's the best thing to come to the club for a long time. but i don't think he's faultless, i don't think he's perfect, and he's still got a lot to learn about english football.

in rafa we trust? you have to earn it mate.

I agree Lynds. Like last season, watching us in the Premiership and the Champions League is like watching two different sides and it's extremely frustrating.

I agree that there have been several knee jerk reactions after Sunday's game. I actually thought some of our attacking play was good but defensively it was probably the worst display I've seen from us since the Mancs spanked us 4-0 a few years back. You have to ask yourself how stubborn Rafa is gonna be about the system we are playing. He was stubborn with the zonal marking and that eventually worked but this 4-5-1 situation is different.

If you dont have the players and have not bought the players and DONT have enough money for the players you want, it aint so easy to change things for the better.

Last season Rafa changed the tactics to suit what he had in the CL. It worked. In the Premiership, the same system only got us 5th. He has sold Baros and sidelined Cisse. As a result I don't see an increased goal threat from a system that was short of goals in the Prem last season (IMO). Crouch will score goals but not playing as a lone striker because at the moment he's doing all his work with his back to goal.

I said earlier in the week that Rafa seems to lack a Plan B. We have been here before with Houllier. I dont want to see a team choca with Rafa style players and then he leaves after 2 more seasons. I want to see a team that has more than one style of play (unless we play like Arsenal) and a proper mix of player types.

There is no point keeping a Cisse when you dont play him. There is no pointing keeping players if you are gonna use ONE system and that system only. Does he not realise that Prem clubs work you out after one\two seasons (GH). Does he not realise that you need a recognised scorer up front (ask Moyes).

Its a worry for me. Something needs changing. NOT by much but it does need tinkering. Houllier was not actually wrong by much, but it needed changing. He did not adapt and we all saw the results. I'd recommend switching back to 4-4-2 against Blackburn.
