Nunez - Whatever happened to our right winger?

Nunez wasn't the best player we had, and I wasn't a fan of him at all. But he wasn't completely useless. He was very good as a defensive right winger.
Against Juve at Anfield, after they scored their goal, they were running riot. I think it was Camoranesi on the left wing that was doing a lot of damage. Then Rafa sent Nunez on to nullify that threat - and it worked!
Nunez made small contributions last season, albeit very small. Without him, we may never have won that beautiful cup.

Nunez was injured and lacked match fitness for large parts of tthe season. Still he managed to put in a few decent performances and he showed a fair bit of effort and determination. I did not think Nunez was a big loss when he left, but now I must say that letting him go without having a replacement lined up looks like a mistake.

I watched Nunez against Real Madrid last night and I must say, he was not that bad. Made good runs and crosses, was fouled in the box (and got a penalty) and scored.

Actually kinda disappoited nunez went. He isn't as bad as he is made out to be. He hugs the right flank and puts in good crosses. He is deffo better than garcia in that role.

Maybe we let him go a little too early.....  ???

As skill goes I think Garcia is far better than Nunez, but on the right wing I think you are correct, he is more suited to the role. Due to his injury, we did not get to see the best of Nunez.

Oh well, I hope he does well (except against us) and was happy to see him score against Real (those w@nkers). HeHeHe, all that cash and they cannot buy a defence.

the only 'good crosses' i ever saw from Nunez was to people sitting in row Z of the Kop!  Never have a seen a professional footballer put so many by line crosses, into the crowd, so many times.  I'm glad he's had a good game against Real but the fact they didn't want him sums up his ability.

Nunez scored one goal in Celta Vigo's 3-2 away win against Real Madrid.

He actually played well on Celta's right flank, perhaps just  a one off?

Against Madrid he showed good control, pace and determination....

With a little more time at Liverpool he might, just might have been a decent bench player, but who knows??

I havent got a clue what we got for him, but i am glad he is gone.
He was really poor, and anyone blaming injuries or time to settle in, ask yourselves the question...do you really think the lad has any ability as a winger ?
Yeah he hugged the touchline...so what ? You could ask anyone to do that, i watched the spurs home game near the end of the season and Alonso was unbeleivable spraying passes all over the park long and short.
Well he played Nunez in down the right in the second half about 4 or 5 times, Nunez was in 5 yards of space level with the spurs area....every time he lost possesion or produced a terrible cross.
I know that is 1 game, and i know he worked hard, but if anyone is honest he would never of cut it and is a very limited player.
Rafa needs to be applauded for getting rid of a player he brought in..and so quickly.
With Houllier he would of still been here in 3 years time.
