How much for cisse? - Will we get a good price?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby NiftyNeil » Fri Aug 26, 2005 11:45 pm

After watching Rafa dodge questions about Cisse's long term future, I think it's a dead cert that he will be out of the door by the end of the month to pave the way for Michael Owen's return.
The question  is though, how much can we expect from this deal?
With him being cup tied for all European fixtures, I can't see him being worth much more than £7 million. That gives us an immediate loss of £7million. If we then pay the rumoured £12 million for Michael Owen, then that gives us a net loss of nearly £10 million!
All that for player to sit on the treatment table for a year, and for Michael Owen to try his hand abroad.
Does anyone have an opinion on our poor business dealings?

It is poor business. There is no chance we will get 14m and I don't see much hope Owen will come for 8m.
At the same time it just doesn't feel right to me.
Cisse has shown how great his attitude is, is desperate to impress and be part of this Liverpool side.
Michael Owen jumped ship to RM at the first chance after making us dance to his tune over contract talks, and now wants to come back. Why does he deserve a chance more than Cisse?

why does everyone have sucha problem with MO moving to RM???

When he left, it looked as if we were going down the same route as newcastle (bottom half) and he wanted to improve himself, and because he had aspirations and ambitions everyone treats him as if he left when we were genuine title contenders, which we wern't.

the problem is Rick Parry and the board wants Michael to come back so much which actually leaves Rafa in total dilemma.whatever the decisions gonna be,Rafa will have my 100% backing.

I have been away and have not yet read the threads relating to cisse, but i will. Its just that i really don't want cisse to go. That guy has so much speed its frightening, everything else will come. i hope they don't sell him.

bcos if (big IF) cisse becomes the next henry in a couple of years n RM comes knockin', hell, he'll jump ship just like MO did.

cant blame MO for movin, but he could have helped in getting us a better price. MO was once touted at 30m. now at half that price, nobody wants him. the reason? cos he is not that good a striker that hype built him up to be.

would u rather start a game with ronaldo/robinho/baptista/henry/RVD/defoe/skev/crespo/rooney/ronaldinho/eto/makaay/gilardino etc etc or would u rather start with owen?

loads of better strikers out there. but since most of the abovementioned will never fancy coming to pool, hell yeah gimme owen instead since he's willing!

i guess u can call it an educated guess. carry on livin' in a perfect world n think everyone who plays for liverpool is so loyal they'll reject the chance of big bucks n glory just bcos "hey, they're supposed to love liverpool!"

if MO, who had liverpool in his veins couldnt reject RM, then i dont see why cisse can. (maybe only carragher can).

i do agree with you there's been load of rubbish on this forum lately. but saying how i feel, that cisse would probably not reject RM is they came for him is a pretty decent prediction. i do not live in a world of blind support for pool and i see the world as it is. cisse's most probably not gonna turn down such a chance for us the fans, hope you understand.

then again, that's not the gospel truth but just my 2 cents. anyway, this is pretty rubbish and i really shouldn't be speculating about the future and hypothetical situations. my bad.

There's a boot sale at Anfield.. I reckon we'll get £1.50 for Salif Diao and Cisse'll be a snip at £6.50 :D

It would be a crime to sell Cisse! All he's ever done is give it 110%

Even when he broke his leg, he was determined to help Liverpool do well, and anyone that comes back from an injury like that so quickly, deserves more than to be offloaded to make way for a player that abandoned the team.
