Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Sol Campbell would be a brilliant signing in my opinion. Before he got injured I was of the view that he was just about as good as anything there is in the Premiership. For me he is everything that a centre-half should be, big, quick, strong and good in the air.
The obvious barriers would be his fitness and the likely huge salary demands. Overcome those admittedly large obstacles and you have yourself a truly World class defender in my view. Both this and the "Owen 11" stories are very encouraging as neither Lynds nor Johnny Mac are known for sprouting sh!te. Bring 'em both on, and while we're at it ask Chelski how much they want for Glen Johnson. About 3 million quid I shouldn't wonder. Soon as he walks through the gates tell him that he's actually a right midfielder. Give it six months and Bingo, he'll be challenging Beckham and Wright Phillips for an England slot.

Not a bad shout that bigmick, Johnson at right back is utter garbage, but coming forward he always looks more than decent.
He might not be the answer until he learns the role properly but i wouldnt be surprised to see him at RM some time in the future.

BBC

Bayern Munich midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic claims that Liverpool want to sign him.

"I have heard about the interest and I am honoured that the Champions League winners want to sign me," Salihamidzic told Germany's Bild newspaper.

"But it is up to the two clubs as I have a contract in Munich until 2007."

The 28-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina player joined Bayern from Hamburg in 1998 but has failed to cement a first team spot under manager Felix Magath.

Looks like the activity is hotting up now....

Finally official talk re Owen returning.  Don't want Cisse to go, I think he could be a legend for us...anyway, here are some rumours flying around at the moment.

Copied from a rumour site so it's not my :censored: spelling and grammar

Lfc Have Had a Double Swoop For Bayern Munich Pair Owen Hargreaves and Sebastian Sweinsteiger Accepted Bid Thought To Be In The Region Of 9 Million Pounds Both Will Be Revealed In Press Conference On Friday Aswell As the 10 Million Signing Of Real Madrids Michael Owen Also Seeing Woodgate In On A Years Loan Trust Me ( Behind The Scenes)!!!!

Rafael Benitez will announce three final signings within the next two weeks. At least two of these will be revealed in the next five days. Bayern Munich right side winger Hasan Salihamidzic will make a £5 - 8 million move and Michael Owen will make a £12 million move. Benitez will continue to search for a central defender before the transfer window closes. Jorge Andrande is the top target and he would cost around £7 million. Expect Liverpool to splash near £25 million more before the end of August. You know the three players!!!

Joe cole to sign for liverpool on sunday to fill the right winger vacency. cole is believed not to be happy at playing second fiddle to shaun wright phillips and damien duff with the world cup approaching. 3 year deal worth £8.5 million, will wear the number 13 and make debut in super cup. *brought to u by dominguez*

Good fun this rumour lark!  :p

Oh no, please no more Owen Hargreaves rumour please. I don't rate him. I think if we can get Joe Cole, that would be a great signing. Even better if MO and Sol sign as well. Our squad would be complete but if its true, it seems there is a great chance Cisse might leave (need more money)...

Liverpool could be set to beat Arsenal and Inter Milan to the signature of one of Austria's most highly-rated talents.

Besian Idrizaj, an attacking midfielder with Linzer ASK and Austria's current young player of the year, last night claimed he had successfully concluded negotiations with the Merseysiders and would be signing a contract within the next couple of days.

And the 17-year-old added: "I have always been a fan of Liverpool and it would be a dream come true to play for them."

Idrizaj, a Austrian under-19 international, undertook a three-day trial at the club recently and would prefer a move to Anfield over Arsenal and Inter, who have both had the player watched on several occasions.

He said: "If you get a chance like that, you have to take it. You cannot ignore a trial with the reigning Champions League winners. I would even have swum across the Channel just to take part."

Idrizaj scored in Austria U19s' win over Northern Ireland at the weekend, and he added: "It was the best thing that could happen to me. I knew some Liverpool officials were in the stands, so scoring the winner was the perfect promotion campaign."

Liverpool were unable to confirm last night whether any deal had been finalised.

Maybe not a rumour but we've already signed an Austrian dude. Apparently the Austrian young player of the year. Sounds very promising indeed.

Liverpool are hoping to finalise a deal to bring Austrian youngster Besian Idrizaj to Anfield next week.

Idrizaj, Austria's current young player of the year, recently enjoyed a trial spell at Melwood and the Reds are now set to beat off competition from Arsenal and Inter Milan to secure his signature.

The 17 year old is an attacking midfielder and currently plays his football with Linzer ASK in the Austrian league.

"I have always been a Liverpool fan and it would be a dream come true to play for them," he said.

"If you get a chance to go to Liverpool on trial then you have to take it. You cannot ingore a trial with the reigning Champions League winners. I would even have swam across the channel just to take part."

Liverpool scouts watched Idrizaj in action for Austria's under 19s at the weekend, when he scored the winning goal in a friendly with Northern Ireland.

"It was the best thing that could happen to me," he added. "I knew some Liverpool officials were in the stands, so scoring the winner was the perfect promotion campaign."
