Investment - Is lfc still looking for investment?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Does anyone know if the likes of Steve Morgan and Co are still interested in investing into LFC? It's gone very quiet recently, but I thought with our Champions League win, we would have been back in the spotlight again for any potential investor. Any Ideas anyone?

Morgan has hopefully chosen to hang his head in shame follwoing his verbal assualt on the board, the chairman and Rafa's credentials.

rafa`s credentials? i thought morgan was pro rafa
but i agree with you in general, we are lucky to have such a commited chairman in moores who has backed this club with big money for a long long time. many a chairman would have curbed the spending and sat in the mid table comfort zone picking up the sky tv cheques ages ago.
i think rick parry has come to the fore recently too and his handling of the emotional juventus ties, getting us back in the champions league and keeping gerrard was first class work under real pressure.

The stadium will pay for itself if we get good attendance regularly - which shouldn't be a problem. Parry has always said that stadium funding and cost will not have an affect on potential squad strenghtening.

While a critic (sometimes a big one) of Moores at times in the past, the miracle of Istanbul and his inspired appointment of Rafa has proved that Moores appears to be getting things right at last. In an ideal world Rafa will continue to work wonders, our coffers will fill with prize and sponsorship money and we won't need investment.

I must admit that when the Morgan issue was on the go I was also critical of Moores as being stuck in a time warp when it came to running a 21st century football club, I felt he needed to toughen up and do what was right for the club in the current football climate rather than sticking to outdated principles. Some of you I'm sure will disagree but I stand by that, at least to an extent. Don't get me wrong, I like Moores as an old-fashioned chairman who has over the years been a great benefactor of the club and let the manager do his job without egotistical interfering. However I don't think that our success in the CL can be attributed in any way to Moores, the impression I get is that Rick Parry has gradually learnt how to play hardball probably with the help of what he has learned from the departure of Owen. Then again it was Moores who brought in Parry so maybe you can attribute some credit to him in that sense. Parry it would appear was instrumental in making Stevie stay after all.

However let's not all kid ourselves that everything's rosy in the garden, the CL win was the obvious high point of what it has to be said was a prettty sh*te season last term. Moores  helped bring in Rafa who has already proved himself to be man enough for the job and has clearly got a decent CE in Parry but that's largely the footballing side of things. What I'm not entirely convinced of is Moores' commercial acumen. One of the reasons Manure became so successful was because of their exploitation of the marketability of the club and I can't help but thinking we should be generating more revenue from that side of the club, and that Moores has failed us in that respect. Perhaps if we exploited those markets better then we wouldn't be struggling to find the funding for a new stadium. I'm not saying we should sell our soul to the devil a la ManU but there's certainly room for improvement imo.

I'd love it if Moores gradually came up trumps because he epitomises "The Liverpool Way" but he needs to sharpen up if we're going to compete with the top 3

I know its very easy to pick up on snippets of a post and highlight issues to dissagree with but I remember the glory days(I was 8 in 77) and never ever thought I would be around to see us conquer europe again,I still cannot get my head around the fact that we actually did it and in the fashion we did.I would love our club to lift the PL trophy this year(I think we have a very good chance)however nothing could compare to our night in Istanbul IMO.
I dont understand where this "but its the league thats important" comes from, its very important, however winning the CL is far more gratifying.
I have a director at work who has a chelski season ticket and believe me he's :censored: off we beat them, big time,in fact it appears to have ruined their season.YNWA
