Just watched the interview off lfc.tv. A few points from it:

- Gerrard saying he is not proud of it, but wants to put it behind him. Feels the delay on contract was a sign that the club didn't want him, was hoping to sign a few days after the cup final.

- "I can promise them that this won't happen again".

- Love of the club persuaded him to stay, wants to forget about what has happened and get on with playing football.

- Bust-ups reported by the press are "absolute nonsense".

- Apologised to players and fans.

- Wants to sign long contract and get rid of speculation.

Seems like he was very confused, and their was major misunderstanding between himself and the club. Glad they sorted it out eventually!

I actually think Friday is too soon to sign. I would be more inclined to say to him, "go away and think about it for a week. When you get back, if you STILL want to sign then we'll get it on." TBPH the issue foe me is not only whether we get to keep him, it's what level of player we get to keep. I thought he was very poor in a lot of games last season. Would we in all honesty have been worse off, aside from maybe half a dozen performances, if we had had either a Graveson/Cahill/Fabregas, or a Fletcher/Geremi/Parker/Cole/Jenas in his place, or any other decent Premiership midfielder?
I've left out the likes of Lampard/Makeleli/Vierra/Keanne because based on last seasons efforts, there was absolutely no comparison. I've long felt that Gerrard is potentially one of the best midfield players in the World. I'm absolutely certain he thinks he already is. Well it's time, if you're staying to show it son. No more cr@p, lets see the player we know you can be and while we're at it start acting like a captain. Then we can all be friends again.

It was on sky news ciggy. Stevie looked exhausted .i'm just hoping no bloodsuckers mess with his mind before friday, He looked and sounded like being a couple of steps away from a rest home.
Very positive about liverpool but worn out and fragile.

Because we havent got the money to buy a 30 million pound midfielder, which is what hes worth and he is not worth that price tag for nothing, there is something special that all the big clubs are dying to get there hands on our man.

for a player with 2 years left on his contract to want priority the moment he comes back from his holiday just goes to show his ego on this matter. He has never failed to come out with reasons to threaten the club so what makes you think he won't do this again.

more worrying tho is the silence from Rafa. As we know Rafa do not like any one player to dominate the team, thinks it will distabilise team harmony so I felt worried on that front. For the moment (if I have to choose...) I would rather Stevie goes than Rafa

Might be on again soon sick of them bloody olyimpics
Thought he may be devasted probably a dirty big weight lifted off his shoulders now everythings out in the open.
And maybe this was the wake up call that Rick Parry and David Moores needed that we are not a selling club, that our club is hungry for success, they brought in the right man in Rafa, now they must listen to the players and fans and start challenging for the title.

Rafa has come out and said this, it's on lfc.tv.

"We are all delighted because we have all wanted him to stay. Whenever we have talked we have always known he wanted to stay and we understood the situation.

"Now we have a clear idea about the future. It's important that we received this good news and it has come as a boost for everyone at the club.

"I am sure now that Steve will be more focused on his club and on the games because his contract is sorted out. It will be a better situation for all of us.

"My relationship with Steven is fine, it always has been. I don't understand what I have been reading in the press. I am sure now that, if it's possible, our relationship will be even better.

"It has been a good day for the club and now we are looking forward to working hard, to improving the team and to doing our best to win games when the season starts."

Yea agree he looked totally worn out, but also he still seems to look a but perplexed and as always still NO SMILE.(Ok he has been stressed, but thats HIS fault anyway FFS, will people please stop feeling sorry for him)

But the one thing I would add is that he wants it to be forgotten and for it to all 'go away', I am sorry but it always seems to be that it is ALWAYS about what HE wants.....FFS

These weak apoligies and empty promises are not fooling me for a second, anyone can say words, FFS less than 24hrs previous he was qouted saying something the complete opposite.

I'm not being harsh (i dont think!) people are acting like yesterday never happened, like last year never happened, like he never said 'wait and see' before the Olympiacos game and that 'we cant win it' in relation to the CL......I will not forget this for a good while........

HE HAS PLENTY TO DO TO WIN MY LOVE BACK, I tell ya!!!
