If he wants to go them his heart isn't here and we should get a wad of cash and let him go.

I can't see what Madrid can offer him that we can't anyway.

A better lifestyle perhaps. Real Madrid are a great football side immersed in History, and I am sure if you ask his wife she woudln't mind living it up in Madrid.

Unfortunate;y I think his wife could well be pushing the idea of Madrid, whereas Stevie is thinking more of his loylaty in football terms, his wife is thinking of their lifestyle.

I have this feeling there will be a press conference today and it'll be bad news. I think SG will go. It's a shame but I reckon itll happen. :(

I too have a bad feeling Lee, it is over a month since Istanbul and he is yet to sign a new contract, not wanting to risk another Owen situation the club may sell now.

I hope to God I am wrong though it would be a big loss, and we are yet to be linked with a player who is anywhere near being able to repalce him.

MEDIA WATCH
  20K LURE FOR JAMIE
Daily Mirror 01 July 2005

Jamie Carragher is being offered a £20,000- a-week pay rise by Liverpool as reward for his outstanding form.

The defender's agent, Struan Marshall, met Anfield chief executive Rick Parry on Wednesday to open discussions about a two-year contract extension.

The talks were described as "constructive" and more are planned.

Carragher, 27, has two years left on his current £40,000-a-week deal and Liverpool want to keep him until at least 2009.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez believes Carragher would be worth every penny of his proposed pay rise and has hailed his converted centre-half as the best defender in England.

It is an amazing turn around for Carragher, who feared for his first-team place two years ago when Ireland full-back Steve Finnan moved to Liverpool.

i'll drink to that :buttrock

If Carra's getting hitched today, surely Stevie is there. Can't say he's leaving today of all days.

" Hi Jamie mate, here's your wedding pres, It's the captains arm band, I'm off to Madrid, see ya. "

Can't see that happening or is it just wishful thinking?

great clip st mick, at least we know Carra will never leave and IMO their is no player more important to LFC than Carra, that includes Stevie G.

hmm maybe Ckay, but Rick Parry could still announce that they have agreed a fee and he will be going to Madrid in the next week or so, Stevie doesn't have to attend the press conference. Carra may already know.

Of course this is all speculation, and Stevie may well have signed a new contract.
