Get things in perspective and give him a break

Plus he has had little of the type of service which he thrives on

Exactly,

We will see the best of him if and when we get some good wingers in that can put the ball on his head.

Reading the various posts I think giving him a break is exactly what people in this thread are doing .   :kungfu:  Or did I miss something ?

Morientes will come good. I think when he signed a lot of people got carried away and there was always going to be an element of disapointment.

If you notice a lot of the good things he has doen for us have come from good balls coming into him from the wing. He had a great time at Monaco as they had the best winger in Europe last season in Jerome Rothen who is similar to John Arne Riise in that his game is based more on power than silky skills but was probably without equal last season with his ability to whip in quality ball from the left. They also had Ludvic Guily, a guy very similar to Luis Garcia (indeed Garcia decided to leave Barcelona when Guily was signed) in that he plays in the hole or off the front striker but who likes to drift wide on the counter and play ball into a big forward. These two fellas were supplying Prso and Morientes with great ball and both prospered.

I think we will see a decent winger come in in the summer (some say it'll be Solari) and I'm excited at what Morientes can achieve.

There's a fella called Luque at Deportivo who is an excellent left winger and if Rafa wants to keep it Spanish, he isn't a bad choice.

If we get another striker, we all know he will be spanish. Mori is really struggling and I have to say I'm seriously worried about his ability to adapt to the prem. As has been said; Monaco and Madrid are a far cry from Merseyside. Yes he's class, with a proven record abroad, but so had Veron. That t*at lightened rudolph's pockets by about £27m (hahahahaha!!!!!). I just hope 'Nando has more about him than to have looked upon his move as "easy money". It's a question of desire to succeed. (Garcia has scored 12 so far in his debut season, while weighing about 15 oz!!!!!)Next season should tell us whether Mori's hearts in it or not. And if it isn't, we can always sell him for £15m!!!!! Up the 'pool!

Anyone know how to host a video cllip I have of Morientes?

I can put it on here for you to marvel at....

Leon

Check out http://rapidshare.de/en/main.html for file hosting.

Anfieldadorer knows more about this stuff than me, he's doing a lot of it lately.  He'll let you know more if you PM him.

link did not work Johnny Mac old boy

Yeah the site must be down, not working for me either. :(

Anyway, I can see you've put the file up.  Bookmark these two links though.

Everybody said the same thing about Henry and Bergkamp in the first year they came to England and.....

Look what happened in the end....

PLUS he DOESN´t get an QUALITY service!!

Morientes is a player that needs a quality ball played to him....

In Madrid and Monaco he scored lot´s of goals and was so important because he was surrounded by quality...

Next year we should have much MORE quality....

John we can take it from this that you are fairly sure as you can be that Morientes will come good. You're not on your own as you can see from the other posts. This is your opinion and you are fully entitled to it.
This being a forum however, when somebady starts a thread it is normal in that topic opener to either ask a question or give an opinion. Then people such as your good self either agree, disagree or abstain. That's sort of the whole point really. It's not being "fecking impatient" to point out that Morientes has had little impact in a number of games, it is merely stating the obvious. Just like it is stating the obvious to talk about his class and pedigree, anybody who knows football can see within a couple of minutes that he has both in abundance.
Somebody else asked the question if those who were criticising Morientes now would be saying that they always knew he would score goals when he gets 20 next season. I don't think he will score 20 goals for us next season. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and believe me, I'll be the first to say I've got it wrong if he does the business. My prediction if he stays, 9 Premiership goals.

John Barnes' Granny wrote:I'm going to go against the grain here and think he'll be a quality player for us next season. He's had a lot of injuries and played hardly any football for Madrid in the first half of the season. I think he has done ok, although I accept that in a few games he has struggled, particularly with pace.

However, while the "Robert Pires" arguement has blown up in Liverpool fan's faces before, let me remind people that this is Fernando Morientes we are talking about, not Bruno Cheyrou or El Hadji Diouff.

So to the doubters I say: Remember Robert Pires you kneejerk dolts!

I agree with el Klinko .. Mmmmorientes will do the business for us next season.. in a team built by Benitez to challenge for honours ...

Morientes isn't a goalscorer.

He'll maybe get 15 or so next season, but i can be you anything he'll play a major part in alot of other goals. The mans a class act.

He'll take his chances and bring other great players into play. I'm sure he'll be a success next season.

you`ve got to give people time, especially foriegners who dont even speak the language.
its a good job we didnt have these inquests on every player years ago or we would have never won anything, alan hansen spent two years in the reserves - he would have been sold by now with comments like "if he cant break into the first team he`s no good " ringing in his ears. same with rushie, his first spell in the side couldnt be considered a success by any margin but he developed into a legend. some players burst onto the scene like peter barnes (ex man city) and then fade just as quick, whilst others take a while but slowly develop their games as they get older - the teddy sheringham that started out with millwall was a fraction of the player that played in euro 96.
we`ve at least got to give the fella a season before we really start judging him.

don't think anyone is righting him off. People are talking about things he will have to come to terms with if he is to be successful in the EPL.

I agree, that it must be taken into consideration that he hardly played at Real Madrid this season, and he doesn’t know the language, and he needs time to adjust to a different league. I also agree he has class.

All I said was that I don't know whether he will come to terms with the Premiership, I didn’t say he wouldn’t, I said I don't know for sure.
