I think we'll definitely see a new forward arriving in the summer. I don't think he'll be a big name but he'll be a guy in the £5million bracket who'll make his name at Liverpool. :blues:

Andy Johnson perhaps

Morientes has also probably suffered from not being involved in the Champions League.  I honestly think he will come good next season especially being involved right from the start

I think our team is unlucky due to the number of injuries we have. So, our starting eleven is always changing. Its almost impossible to expect any consistency without any significant period of stability. Morientes simply doesn't really know his teammates well and vice versa. As been mentioned by many here, I'm sure next year he will have a breakthrough year and noone would remember we have this conversation.

What do you think of my suggestion?

Yakubu? Don't know really. I reckon you'd have to go to about 7 or 8 million and for me he is little raw. Very similar to Heskey only less prone to falling over and probably not as good in the air. I wouldn't laugh at the suggestion but probably on balance would prefer Smith.
Some on here have mentioned Forsell who I rate very highly. I guess we would get our hands on him in much the same way we would get Smith. I've actually met him quite a few times as he comes in the pub regular with that Aki Rihilahti bloke at Palace. Very nice fella, I must have said to him about 10 times that he should go to Liverpool, each time he just grins. You never know. At least if he does go, tickets shouldn't be a problem.

i agree that morientes has hardly set the world on fire but the guy has had no service whatsoever. if ever there was a case for us to try and go out and get two wingers then it is now. as well as they have played this season, garcia and risse are not wide men.

I've also been a bit disturbed by Morientes' failure to live up to our expectations and as Mick has pointed out he often goes awol in  games ,however being this close to the end of the season I'm happy to give the fella the benefit of the doubt and see how he gets on in the new season. Maybe it is just a case of him needing more time (fingers crossed) .

I'm sick of people being fu(king impatient with morientes.  He is proven class and has shown glimpses of this since he arrived.

He didn't hardly play any football for half a season before he joined us and he has had a few niggling injuries since, added to the fact that he is still trying to adapt to the english prem.

Get things in perspective and give him a break

Plus he has had little of the type of service which he thrives on

Like most, i was VERY excited when we signed Morientes. I guess i thought/hoped/assumed the lad would come in and set the world on fire. The reality has been a little different but he has shown some real flashes of his qualty whether it be a little drop of a shoulder, a reverse pass or that shot for the 2nd goal in the derby. If he wants it, i reckon he can be as successful as any top striker in this league.

I guess it all comes down to his mentality. Is he willing to put in the work to adapt to the English game? does he like the city? the climate? is he learning the language etc? Is he wondering if France would have been the easier option?

I personally think he will come good given a little more time.

On the subject of bringing another striker. I have a feeling Benitez will bid for Johnson (having already expressed an interest in public + AJs performance against us on Saturday).

Other possibilities would appear to be Mista or Anelka.

I think everyone needs to give morientes time to settle in. He has only been here for 4 months and hardly played before that.
I honestly think next season he will be a very good player for us and think that its a bit unfair on him to be criticising him this early in his Liverpool career.
Will the same people who are criticising him now be on next year saying they always knew he would be a great player for us, if he scores 20 goals next year, I wonder?
