Baros may be rulled out

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Our old friend "injury" has visited us once more.

Angry Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez has hit out at Crystal Palace's physical style after his side suffered a deeply disappointing defeat at Selhurst Park today.
Andy Johnson's 33rd minute strike was enough to give Iain Dowie's strugglers the points, but Benitez felt that Palace's tactics made it impossible for his side to play football.

He said, "I am very disappointed with the result, but we tried to play and sometimes this isn't possible.

"We knew they would be very physical, but ask Milan Baros about how physical they were. He has problems all over his body. Watch the TV and you will see what I mean."

Baros was forced off injured after 37 minutes after a series of heavy tackles and is rated as doubtful for Wednesday's vital Champions League clash with Chelsea.

This defeat now leaves Liverpool with an almost impossible task of making 4th place this season, but Benitez says they won't give up without a fight.

"I thought we controlled the first half", he said. "But conceding the goal when we did made the difference.

"Now we have three games left in the league and two in the Champions League and we must focus for these games. We will probably have to win our last three games though to have a chance of finishing 4th."

Liverpool's task wasn't helped today by injuries that kept Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia out, but they should both be fit for Chelsea.

This is bad news.

We will really struggle without milan against chelski, he's the best we have at playing up front on his own with his mobility and workrate

Let's not forget his ability to score when he's given the opportunity.......whoops thats not one of the qualities Milan Baros has when he plays for us.

****** despite all the critism he gets there is no one else who can cause as much problems as he does for defense. Ah well look on the bright side at least we have although  cisse, although he may not be fully fit or close to it

Against Fulham. When we played them at Anfield, Robben was a ghost and so was Duff.

Should we be suprised by yet another injury? Maybe (Hopefully I'm wrong) this injury ****** wont go away. What if it stays next season? What if 2005-06 holds another year of plaster casts, x-rays and operations? Is there a problem with the fitness regime which makes our lads more susceptable to injury? I'm no doctor, but something seems dodgy. Obviously had Lamp'ard (as a bag of caramel) not decided it would be a really neat idea to re-arrange Xabi's physique, and if Kirkland wasn't built like an egg-shell, we would have been slightly better off. However, virtually the entire first team has missed at least a months worth of the season at some point or another. It ain't right. Did the team have a dump in Ms. Fairness' cup of tea or something? Did Rafa decide to let his dogs wazz all over fates roses? I don't know. I'd like to, though. Up the 'pool! :p

Players are not in good form or is that we have incredible bad luck. It can't be Rafa's training because he's used at Valencia and they haven't had any injury crisis.

Rafa loves to play 4-5-1 or 4-3-2-1 whatever you call it. But of all the strikers we have, baros is the most suitable for the lone striker role. Morientas sucks at this role... And cisse can't play with his back against the goal....

So if baros is out, it would be very hard against chelsea. We have done it before without key players..and we have to do it again.

ALso makes you wonder why rafa wants baros to leave when he is the best striker for his system.
