Antony le tallec - top or flop - Opinions!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby morientes_gerrard » Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:23 pm

Has Antony Le Tallec been a flop since arriving at Liverpool, he seemed great against Juve but then missed a sitter and done next to nothing against Manchester City!

Is it right that he is only 20 still??? I feel he has more potential than Florent Sinama Pongolle but will Ráfa give him the time to prove it, or will he be offloaded in the summer?

Opinions???

Sinama has more raw ability and is currently more effective, Le Tallec has a similar level potential. Both are potentially excellent players, neither are real world beaters though.

I'd keep them both. Sinama has a big part to play next season and i'd like to see what he can do off Morientes, i honestly believe he has the ability to make Cisse sit on the bench.

I am a big fan of Antony Le Tallec.

He has good technical ability, knows how to use the ball well, plays in that rare off the striker role, decent in the air, will get you 15 goals a season. He just has the knack of knowing what to do with the ball, its hard to explain, your either born with it or not. And yes he is still only 20, and he shows great maturity in his play.

I think what happened in the summer with him asking to be involved in the first team was a bit of naivety, a young man who wants to play but went about it in the wrong way, but I think his intentions were not wrong, he didn’t mean any disrespect to the club or the boss. Maybe he went about it the wrong way, he should have went to the boss asked him what his plans for him, and then said that maybe it would be best for him to go out on loan and get some experience if he wasn’t going to get much football at Liverpool this season.

I think he will be sold in the summer, it is unfortunate as he fits in well with the way Rafa plays. I would rather see him go out on loan in the Premiership rather than sold.

Personally I would keep him and make him one of my main strikers. Have Morinetes and Cisse as first choice and have him next in line.

Anthony Le Tallec and Florent Sinama Pongolle made serious noises on the international youth scene in 2001 and 2002, when both were considered the best two players in the world at their age. When Houllier signed them it was seen as a real coup, as all the top clubs in Europe chased them.

However, many are the players that shine as teenagers at underage level before struggling at senior level, and currently Anthony is one of these. By rights he now needs to be playing week in week out to develop, and I'm not sure as him in the two positions Liverpool have played him: a right midfielder under Houllier and a second forward under Benitez. Le Tallec appears more of an attacking midfielder, like the position Garcia plays.

I think ALT has potential but I think sometimes his attiude off the pitch is a problem, if he could sort this out and just focus on playing for LFC then I think it would help him on the pitch!

They would both probably benefit from a spell on loan. Not a loan poncing about in France though, Tranmere or somewhere similar would do the trick. Then lets have a look and see exactly what we're dealing with.

i personally would like to see them have a chance playing together upfront at some stage, maybe in next years carling cup. They know each others game and were the best strike partnership in their age group at youth level, so i think it would be worth a try. If it works they could be our back up strike force behind Morientes and Cisse.

Le Tallec is a player who can see the gaps in defences his vision is his main asset, and I see him in a role akin to Pires at Arsenal .

We all know what sinama can do. Hes got great skill, pace and scores goals. He cahnged the game against olympiakos. Le tallec was excellent against juve and has lots of potential. We should keep both. There'd be no point in buying 2 potential stars at age 16 and selling them when they're only 20. they need more first team experience
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,

when they 1st joined the club ALT had a lot more potential than FSP and to be fair he still does, however FSP has found a way to implement his talent up front and on the right side and has proved to be a tough tackler, what is ALT position anyways? GH played hm right mid but rafa seems to prefer him behind the striker, he does seem like a creative player but just seems to be lacking in confidence and self belief

Just cant make up my mind about this kid. Has talent but not seen him do something out of the ordinary.

Agree with Mick. Send him on loan to a team down a division and see if he copes physically.

Didnt do Warnock or Mellor any harm.
