Midfield dilema

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

With Alonso back, Gerrard, Igor and Hamann back next week, Rafa will have his nice problem again.
Igor has done well in the CL for us so far, and I would feel really sorry for him if hes dropped after doing so well for us.
So who does rafa pick for the next CL game? ???

I think he will go for the 1 up top again with Hamann/Igor behind Xabi and Gerrard with Riise on the left and Nunez/Garcia on the right wing. Then its upto Milan to prove he is worth his place against Djibril/Morientes.

Im still not convinced about nunez, Ive only seen him play well once and that was when he came on in the derby.

Whats the dilema? You have 2 quality midfielders, the rest are average nothing more, nothing less. Liverpool have been lucky in the CL this season, but if you want to win you have to play your best squad.

Biscan and Hamman are reliable, but they arent going to win you any major trophies.

Biscan plays better when Stevie doesnt play, and Hamann is still class, i luv him we need him for the Chelsea games.

This TEAM performs much better when "I'm the ****** man" Gerrard doesn't play.

As good as he is, for the good of the TEAM, i'd leave him on the bench for the next game. If things don't go to plan, you have a class act to throw on who can change a game, if they do, then you're laughin.

Hamman and Biscan wouldn't get into any of Europes elite. They may be good players but if you want to bring back the glory days it wont be with merely solid players. You need world beaters which those two are not.

I agree with that in a way Stu, but if we want to keep Gerrard at Anfield next year that's a big no no!

Hey smashed, you say Hamann and Biscan won't win us any major trophies, I think they have prove they can do that already. Both played a big part in getting us to the Cup final this year - although we lost, both have also played a big part on getting us this far in the Champions League this year.

But what have they won you? You really believe that Biscan and Hamman can compete with the likes of of Keane, Lampard, Pirlo etc? lets face it you got lucky against Juventus. I'm not trying to take anything away from you, you put in a solid all round performance and all your players put in 110% effort. Which raises another point. Juve players looked disintrested, and there performance was lacklusture at best. yet if del Piero's header was given in the first leg you would be out.

Nah, i have just come to put all you dirty scousers in your place. Last thing i want is for you lot to be disillusioned with your current success. Imagine the mass suicides when Chelsea bet you and you go another decade without a European or PL trophy.
