Tottenham defender Richards retires:

Tottenham Defender Dean Richards has retired from football at the age of 30 due to illness. He had been suffering many headaches and fevers etc and other symptoms of a brain tumour. He stated he didn’t feel well enough to play any longer and thanked the manager and staff of Tottenham Hotspur FC for helping him through his ordeal. At one point Richards had looked very promising for the future, but with the likes of Terry, Ferdinand and Campbell standing in front of him for a place in the English central defence, age, injury and his illness took its toll and a few days ago Richards made the decision to call it a day. He wont be severely missed by Tottenham however, as they have many decent replacements for him.
