V Watford

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

A must win fixture along with our upcomming PL games. A win against Watford might just get us going, we are lacking confidence therefore this is a must win.

Team selection:

                       Carson
???        Carragher      Pellegrino       Warnock

Pongolle      Gerrard        Biscan        Riise

                  Morientes    Baros

It seems that Dudek isn't going to get any better, he looks uncomfortable everytime the opposition is in the box so why not start Carson.

Injuries continue to be our achilles heel, we are without the following players:Smicer,Cisse,Alonso,Josemi,Finnan,Hyypia,Nunez,Kirkland,Kewell.

Did Scott Carson played in the League Cup with Leeds in earlier of this season?

I am not sure about it.

I know you are not keen on David Raven, so he might have to play as right back for the match against Watford.

REDS SUFFER HYYPIA INJURY BLOW
Steve Hunter 23 January 2005
Liverpool's turbulent season of injuries continues as Sami Hyypia will miss Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final at Watford after suffering a hip injury.
The Finnish international limped out of Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Southampton but is hoping to be back for the match at Charlton on Tuesday, 1st February.

Hyypia becomes the 11th Liverpool player to be out injured this season and it causes a major selection poser for Rafael Benitez.

It is expected Djimi Traore will come in to partner Mauricio Pellegrino at centre half at Watford with Jamie Carragher continuing at right back.

Liverpool's Head of Press Ian Cotton said: "Sami had a scan at Melwood on Sunday morning which revealed he has a hip injury. He should be back for the game at Charlton."

Why not start Whitbread? He has potential.

Is Pellegrino and Morientes eligble to play ?
''I know Mourinho likes to tell people that he is the European champion manager but he's not now. That belongs to Benitez. '' Jamie Carragher

I hope that peligrine falcon never plays again :Oo:
Alan Hansen summed it up last night by saying, why play a 33 year old Liverpools first team when he couldnt get a game in Valencia, spanish league not as quick, and he said this is the worst Liverpool team he had seen for 15 years.
