Anyone see baros' "goal" last night?

Boniek , now there's a blast from the past , outstanding player , looked a bit like he could be David Faircloughs younger brother.

On the subject of best striker etc. there are so many factors to be taken into account and as someone has already pointed out all opinions are subjective.
No one however has mentioned the transfer value of the players .Surely the valuation placed on players by the people who buy, sell and manage them is an indication of a players "class" as viewed by the experts.

Used to be the case Woofa but these days, time left on and value of contract in terms of wages is at least as significant as ability in deciding transfer value.

World class is open to many interpretations. Is it that only those who would get in a World eleven are actually true World class? Or more sensibly those who would get in a World squad of 22? Or is it, as I like to quantify it:
When I was kid, ask me to name a Polish player and I would say Boniek (sp). Little ginger perm and a top-player. Played in Italy as I remember. A German? Beckhambauer of course, Rumenigge maybe. Overarth at a push. A little later on, a Dutchman? Gullit, Van-Basten, Rjiikjard. The point being if you stopped a kid on the streets of say Helsinki and asked him to name British players he would know Beckham, Gerrard and Owen like as not. Now Beckham may be because of his global branding, but the other two will do for me. If he's more knowledgeable and a little older he may even mention Ferdinand aswell which will also do for me.
Top class? Just means a top player. Defoe better than Baros? Impossible to compare in my view. Totally different players. Defoe better than Owen? there you have a valid comparison. Keanne better than Baros? once again a valid comparison and the answer is no, not in any way shape or form.
Baros is top-class and at what he does, running the channels and leading the line as well as providing a mobile focus for attacks he is one of the best in Premiership. IMHO obviously.

ABSOLUTELY SUPERBLY SPANKING CRACKING "EVERYTHING I WANTED TO SAY" POST BIG MICK.

Well done lad i was trying to think of a way to attack this "system" thats bein used by all the forum members now, since Stu's been rattlin on about it.
Stu i reckon its a good idea and must have taken a lot of thought, and it can enable you to have evrything laid out in black in white, defined to the last detail.first and foremost i respect that you have a "system" cos it shows you think a lot about the game.
But they just dont work. you cant categorize players the way you do.  Big Mick's said it all in the above post, even just explaining about the "world class" thing. all the other "classes" are also open to loads of interpretations.

the main point is that you just cant compare most players. there are "Top Class" players who wouldnt get in some sides who have players of lower class ability (using your system here) not becoz they're not good enough but cos their attributes dont match the way that team function.

it all reminds me a bit of Top Trumps  :D
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

Baros scored twice in the Euro's agaiisnt Denmark and if you look at the goalkeeping on both of his goals it was poor. It wasn't even premiership standard.

Sorenson was extremely late of his line (3 yards he came off) when the ball was played for the first and for the second, had he simply stood up, the ball would have hit him on the head and it wasn't a goal.

All credit to Baros, he was there to finish the chances an beat what was infront of him but it doesn't detract from the fact that had it been a decent goalkeeper he wouldn't have scored either of those two goals, it wasn't as if the keeper didn't have chance, it was just blatently poor goalkeeping.

Secondly with Baros. I posted his faults the other day and he has to many MAJOR faults in his game.

No-one on this earth can tell me any of the things i posted about him were false and things like that don't make him a top class player. People have short memories in this sport and its extremely tedious.

People have forgotten already how good Anelka, Fowler and Owen were. Even Heskey in the treble season, they were on a completley different planet to what Baros is now.

As i've said many a time, any knowledgable match going fan will back me up on this. The likes of Dalglish and one or two others.

I'm a Baros fan, i like the lad, he's useful but he's not and never will world class or even top class. The only top class attributes in his game are his pace, tenacity and acceleration.

He's not Owen or Fowler. I think he is better than Anelka and Heskey.
Baros is one of the top strikers in the premiership at the moment. It would be nice if we could call him one of the best in the CL too but we can't. He WAS the best striker in Euro 2004.

Bloody jokers what @ stupid debate, there are more important things happening at the club than Baros,Baros is already here and trying his hardest without alot of his goals we would be f@cked.

I rate other strikers but to laugh at our own is just a disgrace and ungrateful to say the least, Mikey Owen no way by any means can dribble twist and turn on the ball like Baros get real.

Some people deserve to support a team like Chelski and shower them with the praise unfortunately laking for players in thier own team :( .

GOD BLESS YNWA
