In all honesty i think all of those are better players than Baros. Baros may get to the 8th best in the league. But i cannot see him getting better than any of the other players above him ever.

From that list , I'd put Baros just behind Defoe.
Baros is developing his team awareness and is improving all the time.

Can't agree there woofer.

The only ones i think i might have been a bit harsh are with Phillips (who isn't the player he was two seasons ago but is still quality) and Keane who seems to have gone backwards for whatever reason.

Kluivert needs a kick up the ****** i think, but the rest, for me there isn't a question or debate to be having as far as i'm concerned. They're all better players than Baros.

i agree.  :D
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

I agree entirely with your comments re Phillips, Keane and Kluivert. I would also add that imo Hasselbank is past his best although still a class act, Viduka is not the force he was with Leeds (before the meltdown :D  ) Angel doesn't live up to his billing.
If Baros and the others named above( in this post)were up for sale I know which one I'd buy .

We missed the boat with Hasslebaink. He would have been a great signing. Yes he's past his best but he's still a quality experienced striker and for me clearly one of the top 10 in the league without arguement. One i missed who i'd also put ahead of him is Shearer still. (but only just).

Viduka for me is still a superb player but lacking fitness down to injury. I rate him highly. I personally don't like his style, but he's still a quality player.

I also like Angel, good in the air and in general very good alround.

However... if they were all available at the same price i agree i'd go with Baros down to his age and i believe he can improve a bit more. Maybe to the same level as Angel is at now.

I'd probably swap Viduka and Angel to be honest in terms of ability.

I'd maybe put Baros joint 10th with Kluivert and Angel if i was being generous.

Revised list.

1. Henry
2. van Nistlerooy
3. Reyes
4. Rooney
5. Anelka
6. Drogba
7. Defoe
8. Hasslebaink, Viduka, Shearer
9. Kluivert, Angel
10. Baros

So still that leaves 12 better in our league alone.

Stu , as you've now picked Shearer (great player ) thought is was time to remind ourselves of the above comment,or we could be chewing this one all day.

Some subject's are a complete nonsense and i am certain this Baros business is one of them,Sure not the finished article but Top scorer in the euros when there were alot of prima donas on show is no mean feet.

At the end of the day he plays for LFC and no matter how much certain individuals bang on about LFC and what a "Supporter" they are they are always quick off the mark to put other teams players before thier own
Phillips and Angel? deffies logic Baros is under valued by certain people and if that is how he is thought of and put into the same bracket as no hopers and one hit wonders then can you blame him for dreaming about Barca? ???

If you look at the stats (i.e. number of games per goal scored) then the list of top strikers would be:

1. van Nistelrooy
2. Henry
3. Defoe
4. Johnson
5. Shearer
6. Baros / Ayegbeni

These stats suggest that he is not the best striker out there, but we'd be fooling ourselves if we thought he was.  Hopefully, Morientes can help on this front.  And maybe we can sign Johnson also - poaching of Morientes' shots.

Remember Baros went through and scored with a mighty F*ckin Fine splendid finish, rifled with his left foot from a tight angle?    only to be ruled offside?  and the T.V actually showed it to be onside. Paul Jones may have mae more of an effort if play carried on, but the finish was still sublime, and we may have made something out of the move if play carried on.

BY the way, we look SH*TLOADS better with Baros playing. it was f*ckin obvious last night.

It was offside. The goallie didn't even bother moving because he heard the whistle, so it might have been saved anyway.

Did you actually look up those stats? because Baros has missed a lot more of the season than Defoe or Johnson and has still scored around as many goals.
