Diao is starting?! - Hamann on bench

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

John Walsh would of been a better option for sure . If Hamman isnt fit enough to play a full 90 mins as i think is probably the case, then Walsh would be a fair  bet  if only to give the lad more experience in the first team.
But like Andy said  , its shop window time , and maybe thats the reason Raffa is playing him...................Just hope it pays off

1. hamman is injured or tired
2. its shop window time for salif

i'm hoping its number 2. surely even the arch muppet can make himself look like a footballer against norwich and get someone interested. surely?

I can't see this shop window arguement. Why would you player in an important match like this just to try and get him sold? You play the best team thats fit/ fresh on the day.

Do you really think anyone will pay him 30,000 grand aweek, apart from our selves.  I dont, not on his most recent performances.

the whole competition we are in remains a long way to go, whilst players available are relatively too few due to injuries. We have mainly Kewell, Alonso, Baros and Cisse already in the long list of injured players. How many players again to be the next victims for 'only' norwich game?
You'll bet Rafa wouldn't choose Diao if there are plenty of options. You have to face it that hamann today is not as fresh as young hamann some years ago.

It's simply because of Rafa has not many choices.

as long as he is wearing our shirt I will support him and hope he plays well, unfortunately i can't remeber him doing that for a long time.

this is a totally winnable match and rafa must know what he's doing as regards the team. its ateam that can win the game. and i can't think of any other reason to start diao.

I'd say lack of alternatives is the reason.

Agree with Anfield Adorer on Didi. Do you think thats why Traore's not playing? I would have liked to see him start.

Biscan isn't injured, I think he's off to Southampton cos he is completley out of favour.

Big shout out to Diao who played OK, and did make an mega important tackle on the edge of our 18 yard box just before Luis G scored.

Anyway, lets get rid of the donkey now.....
