Martin o'neill - Has he shot himself in the foot ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Ladies and gentlemen.. I saw in a couple of papers today suggestions that MON had talked himself out of contention of being the next Liverpool manager following his very public contratemps with Houllier.
Is this right or is it just another example of Houllier's arrogance ?
What's your take on this ?

The Mirror reported Houllier claiming that O'Neill had phoned him to "apologize" for the "takeover" rumours.

The People reported that O'Neill was fuming because Houllier had twisted the story. In actual fact, he had phoned to state that he has not made any contact with the board, whether through an agent or personal discussion.

Now, gentlemen, if MON is the more credible party (which I certainly believe so), this just goes to show that GH is not only a French clown with ego-maniacal tendencies, he is also a conniving LIAR.

I was up in Glasgow on Sunday and Heard MON on the radio saying that he was upset with GH. Houllier had leaked to his chums in the press that MON's own friends in the press were trying to set him up to take over from Houllier.

MON stated that he had never spoken to the LFC Board and had never once sought to get the Anfield job.

He didn't say he'd turn it down.

Houllier is using his chums in the press to make it difficult for the Board to offer him the job. It is disgraceful of Houllier to do this. He is trying to protect his own ego rather than helping the club.

GH is the worst LFC manager in living memory and certainly short on integrity.

in living memory he said and i cant remember a worse manager
at Liverpool. Under Souness -at least the team showed a little passion and will to win and thoroughly deserved our cup success.

Houllier has been a good manager in previous seasons but he has taken this team as far as he can. It's time for a change and O'Neill's enthusiasm and drive will get us winning again and he will get more out of the players.
