Who'd complain at seeing Riise, Hyypia, Henchoz, Carragher?

Or even Riise, Traore, Hyypia, Carragher?

Surely the first or second is the most logical as apose to playing ****** like Diao.

                Baros       Pongolle

Warnock    Alonso      Gerrard       Nunez

Riise          Hyypia     Henchoz     Carragher

                        Dudek

this is what i was saying too on another thread, somewhere or other. i'm surprised benitez didn't move JG out to right back and bring traore into the CB position. surely even he has to see now that diao is beyond help and HAS to go.

thought that Traore woul come on for Finnan 2day, but Diao  ???

I'd go with a 4-5-1 formation giving Gerrard a "free role"

                   Baros
                   Gerrard
     Warnock--Alonso--Hamann--Garcia
     Riise---Carragher--Hyypia--Traore

Agreed

Sorry Scott but Baros makes this teamn before Pongo every time in my book. A couple of goals against WBA and Soton doesn't make Pongo undroppable and he would be an asset on the bench.....

Chelsea often play with 1 up front so a free role for Gerard might work but its on the flamnks where the main Chelsea danger coems from and whoever plays left and right back for liverpoool wil have to be at the top iof their game . Personally I'd go for Rise and Finnon  ............

But we have nothing to fear , we also have the players who can do damage and we are at home and today aside we give the opposition plenty to think about ourselves .....

4-5-1 .... battle in the midfield , not in defend ... lock lampard , robben and duff , and they are "finish"

4-4-2 is the best type of formation i'd say but play garcia instead of nunez, possibly. I know he hasn't been playing well but when he plays well his dribbling will be quite important.

4-5-1 looks negative only on paper when you play the way we did against Arsenal :D

Hamann has GOT to play in this game and the unsung hero wil help break up the Chelsea play.

I'm feeling confidant we can win this game mainly cos in gerard we have the current most consistent performer in the prem ....

Walk On :)

I agree, Hamann is one of our key players and surely he will play against Chelsea. I have a good feeling about this game, not really concerned about it. If the lads play like they did against Arsenal, it will be a good day at Anfield.

not suggesting that, if Pongolle were to play it woul be in a 4-4-2 formation.

perhaps a 4-5-1 would be better though in terms of trying to pack the midfield and not allow the likes of Robben, Duff and Lampard space.

Hamann could be key.
