True but not for a club of Liverpool's history and tradition ....

I'm not criticising your best intentions mate but at liverpool we don't have ball Boys, we don't have a Stuffed anaimal as a mascot and until last season we didn't even have a scoreboard.

There are reasons for this , we are there to watch FOOTBALL not be entertained by some poxy sound system belting out motivational songs cos the fans can't be bothered to do it themselves  :Oo:

It's not just about scouscers and ooters. It's about working class and middle class supporters. Working class supporters just get a lot more involved in the crowd. This is why there is never an atmosphere at Stamford Bridge.

I can't agree with that XSD. its too sweeping a  comment to make . We all know seats have diminished a lot of atmosphere a grounds and the general move in football marketing through SKY and clubs in the prem have taken some of the tradition away but i'm encouraged that Liverpool football Club try hard to reatin some of the traditions of the club and although not perfect are a lot better than other prem teams who have sold out ..........

Norwich and Blackburn sure do like to use their PA system for garbage songs when their side score.

but basically i think the playing of 'atmospheric and motivational' music is a terrible idea in football grounds. the english game is just not about that kind of pomp and ceremony like, say, american football or basketball. i suppose even american 'soccer' games are the same.

and, sorry CRA, especially not bl00dy queen! whenever i hear 'we are the champions' or 'we will rock you' played anywhere at public events i just want to walk out. i don't need some overused cliched pomp rock track to tell me how i should be feeling or responding to something. its the teams, and the fans, responsibility to lift each other and generate and atmosphere.

There has definitely been a reduction of noise at Anfield.

Years ago Anfield was renowned and feared across Europe for its noisy support, although that said, European games still generate a lot of atmosphere.

It is in league games where we have seen the biggest problem: its often the case that when Newcastle come to anfield their 3000 or 4000 supporters out shout the home support.

I think there are many reasons for this: the advent of seating, the television age, the increase in stewarding at games, the growing amount of the "prawn sandwhich brigade" and probably most likely (and most controversially) the increasingly anxious, nervous and troubled minds of the home support after 15 years of underachievement.

I remember watching a documentary of Shankly a while ago and they had old black and white footage of the Kop singing Beatles songs in unison before games: absolute magic.

I was talking to a Middlesboro fan the other day (he's married to my cousin) and he's raving about the atmoshpere at the Riverside this season. However, IMO, Middlesboro go too far with their NBA style celebration music blasted from the tannoy.

I know it shouldn't be like this but unfortunately the fans only sing when they have something to sing about rather than getting behind the lads :(

that's not true. they can't even sell out their ground most of the time despite their league position. there only sell out this season was against us.
