Morientez - On his way

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby andy_g » Mon Dec 27, 2004 6:26 pm

the basic fact is that liverpool want morientes and morientes wants to come to liverpool. the stumbling block is how much money real will demand and how much we can afford to pay. if a bidding war starts and the price gets stupid i reckon rafa will drop it and look elsewhere. there was talk some time ago of other excellent young spanish prospects like david villa.

newcastle aren't dumb enough to spend a lot of moneyon a striker when their problems are in defence.

not true they are also being linked to other strikers, which is wierd. Also I think the other 3 may aslso be trying to make a move for James Beattie as he's coming on the market, wich wouldbe more sensible purchase for a club with a tighter budget, also Everton is getting a investment so they WILL be able to compete in the transfer market.  Though if it ends up between Everton and us for Morientes I would shell out 10mill to stop them from getting him.  Can you imagine that !! For like the first time in decades they could finish above us, and then take our prospects.  We better get Morientes.

morientes wouldn't go to everton because he knows that everton usually do really sh1t and that they're just fluking it this season. I doubt that he would also want to go to a club where no one can speak any spanish which will make it quite hard for him to settle there

Everton don't have the finances to buy Morientes. They will go for a cheaper striker because they need the money to buy more players as they only have 16 players. Morientes has said that he wants to play for Liverpool FC because of Benitez and because of the club's history. Last time I checked there was no spaniards in Everton

Strikers nowadays reach their prime between 28-32. I would say he would give us (especially the attackers) experience and wisdom and he is at his peak. If we can get him, it is a "No brainer".

i know morientes is a bit older than anelka but his game is not built on pace, players of the `link man` ilk like sheringham and mark hughes can play well into their mid thirties.
i think he will bring a bit of balance to the attack, its been a while since we had a strikeforce that really gelled.
too many people running the same channels and not looking up when in possession in the opposition box.

He's good. Hopefully we can land him at the club. He will be able to guide our young strikers. He's very good in the air, which we hardly have in the squad.

Interesting the speculation is that along with Liverpool and Newcastle the other English clubs interested in signing Moreintes are: Aston Villa, Everton and Brimingham City .... if we can agree a price with Real .... there really is no competition for his signiture.... fingers and toes are crossed... :)

Do u seriously think that morientas will play for blue sh1ts... He is an ex-galattico. The madrid players will slaughter him even if he step foot at goodison. What will happen to the reputation of real madrid if morientas goes to blue sh1t...?
