Look I'm not getting carried away here because although we are winning games we are far from dominating them from gun to tape, we are clearly still very much a work in progress and in the early stages of a process.
Saying that though when we first signed the likes of Flo and Alex and Hugo etc even our biggest rivals were like ugh okay just hand them the trophy for the next 5 years and be done with it, the potential we have here is frightening everyone friend or foe can see it and i honestly believe given the sheer talent in our squad even a half-cocked, spluttering, miss-firing version of us could go close to winning the title, especially with City sailing along like football's version of the Flying Dutchman, like a ghost ship there but not there if you know what i mean.
In my opinion - kind of like us when we won it under Arne - Arsenal are a good team but not a phenominal one, in fact last season we beat them at Anfield with a Dom wonder-strike and played them off the park at their place in probably one of the most one sided draws you'll ever see, even their fans acknowledged that and that was when we were sh.1t and they were flying and on their way to their first title in 2 decades.
There are a couple of other factors in play which make me believe next weekends game is huge, first given the stage we just happen to be at with a new manager just starting to get his idea's across etc logic would suggest we'll be a much better team in May than we are now, in all probability we'll get better and better every month that goes by so we are only going to improve as the season goes on plus as we well know for whatever reason its not easy to win back to back premier league titles only top, top teams have managed it. Add to that no City, i'm telling you If we win next week its game on.
Yes in the cold light of day consistency or rather the lack of it will probably sink us and yes we still have those moments where it looks like the opposition could drive a coach and horses down the middle of the pitch through the heart of our midfield but sometimes when there's a huge prize on the line players can learn on the job, thats pretty much what happened in Arne's first season, no one expected us to win the title that season, people were even wondering if we'd finish in the top 4, once you start stringing wins together though sometimes players dont want to stop.
