Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Fri Oct 23, 2026 6:45 pm

For me the key to not just Sundays game but our long term future lies in getting players like Isak and Rio and Brad and Flo etc to graft their ars.es off, if we can get our flair players to not just do the dirty jobs but take pride in doing those dirty jobs then the sky really is the limit. When it comes to winning the biggest trophies in the sport i'm afraid there are no free lunches, just look at how hard PSG's players work.
Doing those dirty jobs is tough, you have to dig deep and it hurts, your lungs burn, your legs feel like lead, but thats where character and desire comes into it
Lets see how many players truly want to give their all for the shirt and lets see how many just want to cheat the fans, their team  mates and ultimately themselves by pretending to work hard.

There are concerns the game might be postponed due to the weather. I hope not as I have a ticket!

Crucial game and will give the lads a major confidence boost if we get a good win. 2-0 to the reds.

This will be a tough one, Brighton playing well currently, scoring freely and defensively they are not bad also. They tend to start well as shows they've scored 11 first half goals. On a 5 clean sheet streak currently in all comps.

We're still work in progress, but gradually getting there. If we manage we get 3 points here it will be huge.

Hard one to predict, gut tells me 2-2. We're prone to brain farts at the back so I feel we will definitely concede.

I'm not surprised, it's windy as hell here at the minute, it's 6.45 am and i've just come downstairs to let the dog out and through the patio i can see my [quite heavy] garden furnature strewn all over the place and a section of garden fencing leaning over at an odd angle. The dogs not soft, she stuck her nose out of the door, had a bit of a sniff, thought to herself sod that i'm not going out there and legged it back upstairs to bed.
If you played the game now it would be a complete farce in fact i dont think you could play a game in this actually but there's still over 7 hours to go until kick off so hopefully this wind dies down a bit in that time.

Edit - I dont know if i'm imagining things but the wind seems to have died down slightly in the 15 minutes i've been up.

Forecast says wind gusting to 56 knts with sustained wind of 30 knts, if it was a fishing trip I’d probably choose to stay home but it’s football and I’m at home watching on tv   so let’s play

Very good first half by the boys against a very good Brighton team. We've conceded a few big chances but defended well. Barcola was brilliant for our second goal.. Isak will benefit loads from that rapid pace. Its a shame Wirtz goal went down as a OG, he could do with the numbers to build up his confidence.

Araujo has been absolutely superb all game. He's a old school warrior that doesn't shirk a tackle. He's been brilliant.

Araujo stood out for me, full blooded into every challenge but fair. Thought a few were miles off it today. Ali, Kerkez, Gakpo all below average. VVD also a bit shaky, he looks his age of late.
Tell you what I did notice, Nyoni had a very impressive cameo. At one point he was shouting at Koumas to stop ball watching and get into position to defend a Brighton free kick. For a kid his age he's very astute.
We'll take the three points. Second half was meh....

Great result against a very good team. Izak, Barcola, Wirtz and Araujo showed their quality and looked as if they were beginning to show their true value. Araujo was MOTM for me and it seems that the £47m option looks cheap even if his Barca salary which we are paying is £205,000 a week !! Gakpo is having an excellent season and long may it continue. Iraola seems to be getting to grips with his new extremely challenging job. Six points off the top and we are a long way from being the finished article. Definitely moving in the right direction.

Good win that as Brighton are no joke, they are a legit outfit. It wasnt a smash and grab against Arsenal they played Arsenal off the park so the lads deserve their flowers today. Loved seeing the likes of Barcola and Wirtz put a shift in defensively, thats the cheat code to football, when you get quality players grafting like lower league water carriers the sky really is the limit.
Ronnie MoM for me though, loved watching him channel his inner Tommy Smith today, just give Barca the 47m now

Why the hell did they not give Wirtz the goal? There was a deflection that made it difficult for the goalie but the ball was clearly going towards goal. Have the rules changed?

Anyway, another superb game against very tough opponents, the boys were really up for it. We weren't great the whole game but 2 goals and a clean sheet against this very in-form Brighton side is a great result.

A very good performance and a clean sheet against the team that has scored more goals than anyone else, 23 goals from 7 matches before today. Team is starting to come together and if we can beat Arsenal then we are only three points behind them. We like playing against open teams so today was in our wheelhouse, let’s see how we do against physical and defensive teams starting next week.

That Arsenal game next week is massive, lose it and they'll pretty much be out of sight, win it though and we'll only be 3 points behind them and with City about to have the book thrown at them we'd be in a title race.

In truth, I don't think we have enough to beat Arsenal at the moment. Midfield is overrun most games. They have very good attacking wingers and I don't think we have enough to counter them. Still, stranger things have happened...
