All we have for next year are VVD,the forever injured Gomez, a kid that had major knee surgery and another untested kid that was also injured much of last year. I’m pretty sure we’ll score enough but feel like we may not be tight enough at the back. Only a solid defense wins the PL!

I'm still convinced that our defensive fragilities weren't down to our actual defenders but rather the players infront of them not doing enough tackling and pressing. We need to defend as a team not as individuals. This kid is apparently very good at pressing and tracking back as well as attacking so that's definitely the kind of player we need. We're also thin in numbers up front so I expect more attacking players to arrive.

Having said that, since Konate has left, we need a new CB as well, maybe a RB too.

A few like Romano saying medical done and 6 year deal provisionally signed. 40mil euro is the fee.

Completely out of the blue this one. He turns 23 next month but hasn't really got any experience outside of one season with Ossasuna where he scored 6 times and assisted 2.  He's with the Spanish side at the WC so must be somewhat rated.

Happy we signed someone tbh but worried we will spend next season relying on a lot of inexperience.

Don’t know much about him but apparently his stats were in the top 4 for players in his position in Spain last year.

Make of that what you will.

BBC Sport saying we’ve offered £86 for Yan Diomande

Read they rejected that. Leipzig want £100m. Ridiculous sum tbh.

I'd rather spend 100m on quality though than fritter it away like we did under Brendan on players that will never be good enough ever. Wirtz cost a fortune and didnt come anywhere near justifying his price tag last season but there's something there, everyone can see it, despite him being underwhelming for most of last campaign journalists, pundits hell even evertonians and united fans are reluctant to start calling him a waste of money, everyone is thinking the same thing - that lad is just too good not to come good at some point. He may not even come good with us but everyone who watches the sport is expecting him to crush it at some point in his career. If this Diomande lad is genuine quality just go and get him whatever he costs.

Exactly the type of profile we need but feels as though Leipzig are not overly  keen on him leaving this summer and have slapped a over the top price on him. £100m after one breakout season and nothing else really to show before that is insane.

Ordinarily, I'd say something in the £60m-70m mark would be fairer value but problem is there's not too many relistically getable players out there who fit the profile we need so our hand may be forced. Only other one touted seems to be Barcola.

Has massive potential so we may look back and think the £100m was totally worth it but always that risk.

I think you just have to look at the teams chasing him to know his value, I watched him yesterday and he is quick, crafty and strong. We need this profile player to replace Salah and when you see only the biggest clubs chasing him tells you something. We will probably sell Gakpo and maybe Chiesa so we will have some money coming in. I say go all out and get him.

Crazy money for a virtually unproven kid. One decent season in the Bundesliga is a far cry from the Premiership. Where the hell were LIVERPOOL last summer when RB Leipzig activated his release clause and paid €20 million !!!! I fully accept that there are several other quality teams interested in him. I just wonder how interested they will be now when they find out the price is going to be something in the region of €130 million. We had a similar situation with Izak no other team came close to try and gazump the deal.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 21/22 to 25/26  (10 years
are in brackets 16/17 to 25/26 )
LFC €490m (€650m)
Everton +€15m (€290m)
Arsenal €770m (€1107m)
Spurs €665m (€892m)
Chelsea €740m (€1045m)
Man City €460m (€1095m)
Man United €780m (€1340m)

I watched him in both games and think it's ridiculous the money Leipzig are looking. Hes a kid they signed for 20 a year ago and now he's worth that
Munoz as well moved last year for 5 mil and after a season it's 8 or 9 times that  :eyebrow

In the last year we have spent on leoni, Jaquet, Munoz and if we get Diomande that will bring a spend of around 250 mil on 4 players that just about have a season of XP.  WTF are we doing with our own academy that we have to spend this kind of money on lads to replace what we have already invested years in.
