This is interesting. Not sure who's left behind to play the Villa game but we're definitely whacking all our eggs in one basket   :Oo:

Liverpool FIFA Club World Cup squad: Alisson, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Lonergan, Shaqiri, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Jones, Alexander-Arnold, Elliott, Williams

I know we're gonna play the u23's against Villa but we shouldn't at least take that team's best players. The likes of Elliot, Jones etc. should stay behind and play the Cup match, we're not going to use them in the World Cup anyway. Strange decision IMO, unless they're flying straight to the final after playing the Villa match, as Reg suggests (is that even possible and allowed though?).

I think it looks a little like the below. Apparently the youngsters who are travelling to the CWC will actually play in the League Cup and fly out afterwards. It means they are not eligible to play in either CWC game but we need to name a 24 man squad and I don't think they would have featured anyway.

Tue 17 Dec: Quarter final of league cup vs Aston Villa

                    Kelleher

Williams     VDB     Hoever     Larouci

                    Chirivella
           Kane                 Lewis

   Elliott                                Jones
                     Brewster

Wed 18 Dec: Semi final of FIFA Club World Cup

                     Alisson

Trent     Gomez     Van Dijk     Milner

                       Gini
          Lallana           Keita

Shaqiri                            Mane
                      Origi

Sat 21 Dec: Final of FIFA Club World Cup

                    Alisson

Trent     Lovren     Van Dijk     Robertson

                  Henderson
             Ox                Gini

  Salah                              Mane
                    Firmino

I took that from the Echo mate.

Well the Echo is usually reasonably accurate. It would be great to bring the cup home and see the kids beat Villa. Certainly going to be a very tricky few days.

That makes a little more sense, Reg!
