Local newspaper here reckons Wijnaldum is on his way.

Does Klopp see him playing in a midfield 2? Is that where he excels? Is this even Klopp's doing?

If this is true IMO it should be a very good move. Why?
Because Rafa is behind it...
----
Since Rafa's wrongful dismissal we have:
Signed Sturridge under Rafa's watch
Signed Coutinho under Rafa's watch
So again we are linked with a player under Rafa's watch.
Up to now Rafa has only sold quality players to us.  :buttrock
Perhaps Wijnaldum will suit Klopp's style...
In Rafa and in Klopp we trust

Wijnaldum scored a decent amount of goals in his first season (albeit 4 coming against Norwich in one game). Newcastle fan i know said he went missing a lot last season, especially away from home. However have to remember it was his fist season in this league playing for a team that wasnt particularly good. I don't know if he is the type of midfielder we need though. But if Klopp wants him, then I'm fully behind it.

Klopp feels Klavan will add experience to his backline and he is due at Melwood tomorrow to have his medical. Klopp has warned Christian Benteke and Liverpool's other outcasts: stay and you won't play. Jurgen Klopp has advised Benteke to leave and in addition, wants to move out Lucas, Bogdan, Ilori, Balotelli and Markovic. (Mirror) http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... ke-8442149

Understand Klavan as a cover player but another attacking midfielder seems odd to me.

Actually Wijnaldum isn't a bad player, i remember watching him last year on the telly when Newcastle played someone live on Sky and I remember thinking to myself I wouldn't mind him at Liverpool.
He won the Dutch version of PFA Player of the Year just before he signed for Newcastle and he scored as many goals as Mane did last season in an awful side (in fact he scored against both us and United).
Don't get me wrong I would have preferred a Draxler or Reuss but we don't seem interested in those type of players anymore.

Been linked today with Gary Medel from Inter Milan.. He's the tough tackling ball winner we've missed since Mascherano left. To be honest Lucas did a good job as the ball winner until his injury lost him 2 yards of pace. Apparently Klopp was impressed with his displays in Copa America.

I'd keep Lucas, I'd like to see him given a few more run outs at CB this season, he was absolutely magnificent against City at Wembley.

Yeah he spent one year ar Cardiff and didn't look that great that year.. but he looked a different player at the world cup for Chile which obviously got him the big move to Inter.

I watch all of Chile's games and know him fairly well.

Short but stocky, he is a strong tackler and deceptively quick for his build. He is also good in their air for his height.

He marshals Chile's backline pretty well against your typical South American front line and the game style / tactics would work to his advantage over in Italy.

Over here I think he would struggle being another cog in the wheel as he wouldn't be playing every game and I don't think the Premier League actually suits him.

Solid player when played in the right system and team but not what we need as a CB. He can also play as DM but there are better players out there for that position.
