Apart from Torres when was the last time we sold a player to one of those clubs

Torres for chelsea had a goals to game ratio of worse than 1 in 5  and we got 50 million

Charlton defender Joe Gomez is expected to have a medical soon with #LFC. It is believed they've paid an initial £3.5m. [South London Today]

I feel like we have become a feeder club for the Boston Red Sox. FSG are making money off our great club, and instead of investing it back into the club, they are out spending $40/$50 million dollars on buying players for Boston.

The fact no one's picking up on this is frustrating.

We are certainly a feeder club for the likes of City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc who all regularly have scouts at Anfield seeing if there is anyone worth buying.

Yeah we are DEFINATLY a feeder club for City, Chelsea and Arsnail. Just look at all the players we've sold to them over the last 10 years...   players like...  errr...
hmmm....  err......   Torres, yeah that's the one.

clueless again mate.  :no

Scoff all you want lad but the Echo recently ran a piece about how the stands at Anfield are regularly full of scouts from not only from European clubs but our domestic rivals as well. As it said in the article they are there for one reason and thats because they see Liverpool as a club who is prepared to sell its most highly prized assets, a situation deemed unthinkable not so long ago.
It also pointed out the absurdity of clubs like City and Chelsea who were minnows not so long ago sending representatives to run the rule over our players.
Like it or not we sold Torres to Chelsea and Arsenal very nearly signed Suarez, this summer we will almost certainly lose Sterling to Manchester City and even United put an offer in for him.
We are a selling club and everyone knows it, even our fiercest domestic rivals.

and with BR still in change, Lucas will go (because he doesn't rate him and messed him about), and Coutinho won't be far behind as will a couple of others. They know he is not good enough, and don't want to play for him, just like RS.

LFC are a selling club.  Therefore LFC need a top quality Head Coach / Manager which would go a long way to sort some of this out. FSG are pussyfooting around........expect the new coaches (the 3 and 4) to be announced this week, wonder who the number 2 will be.

Zero money is being moved between the two clubs - they are two separate entities

Millions has been spent on players in the last 3/4 years so how can anyone suggest they aren't investing in the club - not forgetting money to build the stand up

To suggest that we are a feeding club for Arsenal because we "nearly" sold Suarez to them is ridiculous - they may a bid which we dismissed immediately

Every club "sells" players - it's very very rare that players stay at one club now

I remember when we sold - Keegan , Rush , Clemance etc so to say we never sold our best players before is also false

We also have representatives at many games around Europe - it's called scouting

We'll the Echo journo was making the point that for 30 years none of our domestic rivals would ever dream about taking away one of our prized assets. Would Notts Forest have put a bid in for Kenny Dalglish or Arsenal for John Barnes?
That's the point he is making.

Well Everton bought Beardo , Leeds bought Fowler , and a  good deal number more left.

The make up of transfers has moved on

It's nonsense because all clubs will be looking to purchase better players and if the price is right the club will sell - even Chelsea , Man Utd , Barce etc will sell if the price is right - that's football now

Yeah, we sold Fowler and Beardsley when we thought they were finished.
Selling your best player to one of your domestic rivals is an admission that you are not in the game anymore, selling Sterling to City isn't quite on the Torres to Chelsea scale but it's not far off, especially as to the wider footballing world he is perceived as the jewel in our crown.
If a player wants to leave there's not much you can do but if we had genuine aspirations of challenging we wouldn't sell any top player to any of our rivals, we'd send them abroad first even if it meant less money.
You only have to look at the business we are doing this summer to see that we are not genuinely pulling out all the stops to challenge.

We have sold one player who could be classed as our best player to a rival - Torres - that's it , no one else

Sterling at some point was going to leave.

The window hasn't even opened yet and so far we have signed a player from a rival a back up and a young up and coming striker - the window hasn't even opened yet and some are throwing the towel in already - 10 weeks yet until the window is done

Remember when we used to critisize the club for not doing business early ?!

If you are expecting top names to arrive then I would prepare yourself to be disappointed - have we really ever gone out to buy the established top names - not really
