Whats all this rubbish with rodgers saying he is going to rest him in January    If he is then no bother but I don't see why he has to come out in mid december and tell everyone this.
Also remember him comparing him to rooney after that mess with england. He said like rooney if you remove him for a few games then you will disrupt his rhythm so why is he now eating his own words again.

Perhaps it was how bad the elbow was, what Sterling did was next to nothing tbh, did he even make contact?

Agree 100%.
How he has escaped a punishment is beyond me. You cannot throw a slap into a lads face like that and expect to get away with it. If i was monk i would be asking the FA why.

On raheem though. you can see the frustration showing on him in a few games. last night he pushed that lad over the advertising boards and when challenged he lifted the arm to his face. I like to see our players having a bit of balls about them but that kind of stuff is petulant and its not like he doesn't have the ability to rise above it. Playing that striker role is bringing out the worst in him.

I think the CB had got inside his head, he was fouling Sterling all game and there was quite a bit going on off the ball too. Raheem needs to accept that when you play up front you have a big target on your back, CB's are going to try every trick in the book to put you off your game and reacting like that just encourages them, they are all going to be trying to wind him up now.

Shelvey got a 4 match ban for that and cisse only gets 3    Both incidents were the same where the player drives his arm back into the face of another player but in cisse's case he did it 3 times, missed with the first 2 and then connected with the 3rd. That was clearly deliberate and his intention so as to how he recieved a lesser ban is beyond me.

Shelvey must have previous for the same offence, no way was that worthy of a 4 match ban, he didn't even elbow Can, it was his forearm that caught him, it was more of a flailing arm than anything else.

I know he has had a red or two and multiple yellows but can't remember him being done for something like that before. Could it be that the game was televised and it sends out a bad image of the league ? Just can't seem to understand the decisions that panel make as there is no consistency at all in the ban's they dish out. Swansea aren't happy about it but won't appeal as he will get further punishment. Proper Democratic process that is

Oh he elbowed Can no doubt about it should have been red.

I think it was a technicality that allowed Raheem to escape any punishment. Wasn't the referee right next to them when it happened and looking at them? If the ref saw it and didn't take action there and then and recorded in the report, I believe they can't punish retroactively...

That rule has changed now mate, the F.A can punish someone retrospectively even if the ref has seen the incident but apparently they only do that in 'exceptional' circumstances. What Sterling did wasn't ruled to be exceptional enough to warrant the F.A over-ruling the ref.
He's dodged a bullet there IMO, Markovic got sent off for far less against Basel.

The CIES Football Observatory has listed the top 120 most valuable players in the world - and while Messi comes out on top, England players don't do well. Lionel Messi has beaten Cristiano Ronaldo to be rated the most valuable player in world football.

The Barcelona superstar is worth €220million (£173m), according to football think tank the CIES Football Observatory, beating Ronaldo who is worth €133m (£104m).

Unfortunately for fans of the Three Lions, only one Englishman has made it into the top 20 most valuable players - and it's not captain Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester United skipper is way down in joint-27th position, the second Englishman on the list, behind Liverpool sensation Raheem Sterling. The 20-year-old is, according to the study, worth a whopping €63m (£50m), the seventh-most valuable player in football and ahead of Cesc Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez, Gareth Bale and Neymar.

It would appear that Real Madrid paid over the odds to bring in world record signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham to Spain. The list puts Bale in 10th place, worth £47m, almost half of the reported £86m fee he cost.  Raheem Sterling is the most valuable English player 

Manchester United also paid too much for British record signing Angel Di Maria - he is worth just shy of £15m less than the £59.4m it took to bring him to Old Trafford.

Ross Barkley and Jack Wilshere are the only other English players in the top 50, although Arsenal got a bargain in Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez; apparently the Gunners pair, who were bought for a combined £51m are now worth £71m between them.

Chelsea are the best-represented Premier League club with five players in the top 20. Eden Hazard is the third most valuable player in world football, at €99m (£77.6m), Diego Costa is fourth and Cesc Fabregas is also in the top 10. Oscar and Thibaut Courtois are the other two Chelsea players among the elite. Gareth Bale shoots during Real Madrid's 4-2 friendly defeat by AC Milan this week Real Madrid overpaid Spurs by nearly £40m for Gareth Bale 

According to the list Romelu Lukaku is more valuable than Rooney, he is eight years younger after all, while Christian Eriksen is the equal of Manchester City star David Silva.

Robin van Persie props the list up with 14 other players, including ageing stars such as Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger, who are now worth just £16m. The top 120 players ranked:
