Anyone know much about Origi (outside the 3 World Cup games) or Markovic ?

Seems to me like both wouldn't have gotten in the starting 11 from last season ( a good way to judge whether our starting are improving as a result of the window or not) which brings the total spent on players who wouldnt have been starters for us last season to about 75mill if I'm not mistaken. Then again some would argue that Suarez will be leaving (making the starting 11 weaker regardless of the replacement as all would agree). Makes me wonder why we havent spent the 75 mill bringing in just 2 players instead of going for quantity over quality. And before anyone goes off asking about who the 2 players are, it could have been anyone who is proven at the top level. There are more top players moving in this window than in any other in recent memory - and for decent prices. 75 mill would at least get you any 2 of the following I would assume (Fabregas, Costa, Sanchez, Hamsik, Di Maria, Higuain, Khedira, Rakitic, etc.)

This Origi character is a poor man's Benteke.

Quick and strong, gets into the right position but no end product, just blasts it into the keeper every time. A cross b/w Cisse and Heskey, so no thanks.

Would be livid if we wasted another 10m on player to sit on our bench.  :no

To be fair, Origi is still only 19, so we are signing him as one for the future. The WC has inflated his price but that is not the lad's faulty. He showed some good moments alongside with some others which weren't so great, but remember this is a 19 year old kid at a WC

1) He's 19, Benteke wasn't even on the radar at 19.
2) He's not going to sit on our bench, the deal will see him remaining at Lille on loan for a season.

It's not hard to understand is it.

To be fair mate, I'm pretty sick of hearing this over and over again.....

We ain't Chelsea or Man City that can fritter our money away on "hot prospects".  10m on a 19yo is a s**tload of money in my eyes.

We have spent an insane amount of money of squad players under Rodgers, that have contributed NOTHING.

Aspas 7m
Alberto 7m
Illori 7m
Allen 15m
Borini 12m
Assaidi 2m
Yesil 1m

That's a staggering 50m+ on young "hot prospects" that are probably aren't even worth half what we paid for each one.

And now another 10m on this Can fella from Leverkusen. We need to improve our starting XI no more young players coming in that aren't ready to deliver.

When the f**k did we become Chelsea / Man City buying young players and then loaning them back again to another club......  :no

Shouldn't our priorities be in improving our starting XI, not buying another over priced teenager?

We ain't Chelsea that goes around throwing money at a "youth system" AND also has the luxury of spending money on the likes of Costa, Fabregas, etc.

This Orgi transfer is the most stupidest thing I have heard so far, another 10m down the f**king drain.

Yeah it is pretty hard to understand how this can be justified.

Yep got to echo that, 10m for a Rahim type player is bad Biz and 10m lost we could have added to sign a bigger name.

Liverpool have agreed an initial £6million fee that could rise to £9.5million with add-ons for Lille's Divock Origi.

Talks with the Belgian 19-year-old are set to take place this week, however the striker will head back to France on a season-long loan as part of the deal.

It will see Brendan Rodgers ' transfer spree go beyond the £60million mark following the signatures of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Emre Can.

The Reds are still keen to land Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez but should the 25-year-old opt for either Arsenal or Juventus, the Catalan club will pay a straight cash fee in the region of £75million.

pointless signing this lad and loaning him out again, what if lambert or sturridge get crocked ?
all well and good signing these lads for the future but sooner or later the the time comes when they have to stand up and be counted. its borini's time now and he still aint good enough. this lad fall's into that category for me.
i keep waiting for brendan to buck the trend and sign a top player but if anything a pattern is beginning to emerge. we just have to hope that his motivational skills are firing on all cylinders again next season

Liverpool could complete a move to sign Benfica star Lazar Markovic on Wednesday, according to reports in Portugal.

Markovic, 20, is set to become Brendan Rodgers' fourth summer signing following the additions of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can.

The Serbia international has been earning rave reviews for Benfica and also attracted interest from Chelsea.

But Liverpool appear to have won the race to clinch his signature with both Portuguese newspapers and local radio stations are claiming that the talented forward will have a medical on Wednesday and is set to complete his £25million transfer to Anfield.

Liverpool and Arsenal will have to move fast if they want to sign Costa Rica keeper Keylor Navas after reports in Spain claimed Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are.

Navas was one of the star performers for Costa Rica as they defied all the odds to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Brazil.

The 27-year-old had been linked with a move into the Premier League with both Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger being linked with a move for his signature.

But Spanish newspaper Marca is claiming that Navas is unlikely to play in England and could be set for either Bayern Munich or Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid are reported to have already had a £4m bid plus striker Leo Baptistao turned down by Levante but could come back with a fresh offer.

Pep Guardiola is also looking to strengthen his goalkeeping area and could make his move to sign Navas in the near future.

Just a quick one, Ben Smith of BBC saying we have all but given up on Alexis Sanchez and it wont happen
Luis Suarez to Barcelona will, as expected, be a £75m cash deal. None of #LFC spending so far dependent on his sale

Also an interesting photo i found
