Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

A few comments from Lovren about how his head is already at Liverpool and all. He's a good CB but I don't think that he's the answer. It looks like it's going to happen though, so we should at least be the scumbags for once, use this situation and lower his price. He's on a strike, he wants us and not Spurs, so let's hold Soton to ransom as long as we can and lower the price as much as we can. Wouldn't pay more than 15 million for him.

Southampton defender Dejan Lovren says that he wants out of St. Marys and wants to complete a move to Liverpool FC.

The Croatian defender is Brendan Rodgers' number one defensive transfer target and last week the Reds had a bid of around £20m turned down by the Saints.

Lovren says he was not informed of that bid, and has told Southampton that amount should be more than enough to let him leave the south coast.

Lovren reportedly told Croatian website Sportske Novosti: "Liverpool sent a 20 million offer and they [Southampton] paid nine million for me, so they would've earned twice the amount.

"At this point, I don't know what I'll do and I don't like it. It was unbelievable that a few days ago I had an offer of 20 million pounds. It was in the morning and by the afternoon the club had said I was not for sale. Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool.

"Liverpool sent the offer and the club haven't informed me," he added.

"Not even about the subsequent Liverpool bids. That wasn't right. I found out about the bid from other people which disappointed me and I realised I've got no business staying at Southampton."

Lovren, who played at the FIFA World Cup earlier this month, says Southampton are asking for £25m for his services and admits he would have considered staying at the club had they showed ambition and not sold their best players.

Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert have both completed moves to Anfield already and left-back Luke Shaw has completed a £27m move to Manchester United.

Southampton finished eighth last term and manager Pochettino moved to Tottenham shortly after the end of the season. Former chairman Cortese also left the club.

He added: "Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Only Real Madrid have as many fans around the world. The last time I played at Anfield, I got chills when I heard 'You'll Never Walk Alone.' I would like to listen to it all the time."

Liverpool and Monaco are keen on Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The 24-year-old has fallen onto the radar of both clubs, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, and the pair could be ready to make a move to snap up the Frenchman.

The player's agent admitted earlier this year that his client could quit Newcastle this summer, if the right offer arrives.

"He has only a year and a half on his contract at Newcastle and we are open to all proposals", Sissoko's agent Frederic Guerra explained in May.

Newcastle snapped up the midfielder from Toulouse in January 2013, grabbing Sissoko for a cut-price fee due to his contract at the Ligue 1 side having just six months to run.

He clocked up 35 appearances for the Magpies in the Premier League last term, scoring three goals and providing six assists.

Sissoko made three appearances for France at the the World Cup, as Les Bleus reached the quarter-finals.

Major League Soccer chiefs are struggling to keep hold of DeAndre Yedlin - reckoned to have been the lowest-paid player at the World Cup.

The lightning-quick Seattle Sounders full-back excelled as Jurgen Klinsmann's team reached the last 16 - but earns just £60,000 a year.

Yedlin, 20, was so low profile that when Clint Dempsey arrived as the club's new marquee signing, the newcomer took over his No.2 squad number. His teammates then took the plaque off his locker and placed it above the toilets as a prank!

Now, Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool are one of several European clubs trying to prise Yedlin away.

But MLS want the Sounders to reward him with a huge new deal. They are keen to keep one of their brightest young talents at home.

Arsenal have agreed a £32 million fee with Barcelona for Alexis Sanchez, Goal understands.

The Gunners will now try to wrap up the transfer of the in-demand forward with further talks in the next 48 hours aimed at convincing the player to choose a move to Emirates Stadium ahead of his other suitors.

Sources have told Goal that the financial package offered to Sanchez has been agreed in principle by the player and his representatives.

Arsenal will attempt to clinch the signing by obtaining an official agreement from the Chile World Cup star, with the possibility growing that a deal could be finalised in the coming week.

The indications from the Sanchez camp during negotiations are that he wants to move to Arsenal ahead of Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus, who have all tabled offers to the Chilean.

We'll it's only Goal.com that are reporting that and they are highly unreliable.

On Bertrand, he's a decent player but I wish BR would back away from Chelsea. Just because he used to coach there doesn't mean he has to go and take every player who doesn't make it there.

From Portugese press

Liverpool are targeting Benfica’s Lazar Markovic. The English club has presented a €25M offer for the 20-year-old winger. Benfica purchased him last year from Partizan Belgrade: the 50 percent of his rights belongs to the Portuguese team, while the other 50 percent is owned by the agent Pini Zahavi. He showed great personality and talent in his first year in Portunal. Now Liverpool want to acquire him.

The Mirror have now picked up on the Markovic rumors i posted, here you go

Liverpool preparing formal bid for Lazar Markovic after missing out on Arsenal-bound Alexis Sanchez

The Reds are close to agreeing personal terms on a deal to take the Benfica man to Anfield, with the Portuguese giants ready to sell if his buyout clause is met

Liverpool could make a formal approach for Benfica's Lazar Markovic within the next week as the Portuguese giants moved to replace the winger.

The Reds have prioritised the Serbian speedster after discovering top target Alexis Sanchez prefers a move to Arsenal or Juventus , and are close to agreeing personal terms on a long-term deal to bring Markovic to Anfield.

But Liverpool have not yet made a formal approach to Benfica for the wideman as any written offer would then trigger the first-option agreement Chelsea have on the player, inserted in his 2013 transfer, giving Jose Mourinho first refusal and the opportunity to sign him instead.

Chelsea have given no indications that they are in the market for a wide forward but the Stamford Bridge club have, in recent years, taken to player trading as a way of generating revenue.

The sales of Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku are likely to have netted the Blues a combined profit of around £25million when the striker leaves this summer, despite only playing a handful of games for Chelsea, and Markovic could be viewed as a similar investment.

However, the indications are that Markovic's preference is for a move to Anfield to play first-team football and that Benfica will sell if Liverpool meet the 20-year-old's buyout clause.

The Primeira Liga side are on the brink of signing Brazilian midfielder Anderson Talisca from Bahia as they look to buy up the next generation of stars from secondary markets, as well as negotiating with Estudiantes de La Plata over Argentine forward Guido Carrillo.

Having already let Ezequiel Garay head to Zenit St Petersburg this summer, Benfica aren't desperate to sell players but will make a significant profit on Markovic if they are willing to compromise on the buyout clause and accept the likely £22million offer Liverpool have prepared.

I hope all these rumours about Markovic are true, that lad has pace and talent to burn.
Wether Sanchez signs or not with wide forwards like Sterling and Markovic we'll do a lot of damage next season.
