Also, last time I checked the Sanchez to Liverpool move was a component part of Suarez moving the other way. If that doesn't contribute to being "linked" to a player I don't know what does.

It's hard to get too excited about the likes of Stewart, Bertrand, Origi etc because let's face it those types of transfers never seem to work out for us.
Just how many Borini's, Aspas's, Assaidi's, Alberto's etc are we going to have to buy before the penny finally drops at Anfield that you get exactly what you pay for?
As for this transfer committee I think a committee made up of newkit forum members would have more of a success rate than this mob.

Regarding Markovic, James Pearce of Liverpool Echo has said this afternoon that us signing Lallana will have no impact on us going for Markovic and BR seems him as an important part to the jigsaw

players like markovic are quality and therefore should have been tied up seen as the longer you wait the more clubs begin to show an interest. we could have waited till august the 30th for lallana and still have no competition for him, obviously brendan see's him as a bigger part of the jigsaw.

wenger reportedly met with his agent in rio about 2 weeks ago and for me that shows intent, whereas we expect him to be included in the suarez deal and perhaps if someone from the club had of taking a leaf out of wengers book then he might not be refusing us now. reportedly  :D

Looks like we want two from Sánchez, Shaqiri and Marković. I’m sure Sánchez is top of the pile and I think he’s worth around 30-35mil.

I can’t see Lovren improving our defence to be honest. Don’t think he is much better than Skrtel. And I think Bertrand would have trouble dislodging Enrique so I hope we set our sights a bit higher with our defensive targets.

But overall I’m pretty happy how things could shape out in terms of competition in the squad.

Sanchez won't be coming here, it looks like we have agreed a fee with Barcelona for Luis in the region of £75m paid in straight cash.
Sanchez looks like he's signing for Arsenal which will significantly strengthen one of our rivals just as we lose our best player.
Looking at some of the names we are being linked with as replacements for Luis you can't help but feel that the club are about to make a complete horlicks of this summer.
Balotelli would be a terrible signing, his work rate is none existent and if he loses the ball he expects someone else to get it back for him, after watching Luis all action, perpetual motion style for the last 3 years fans won't be too enamoured by the prospect of seeing someone walking around the pitch looking disinterested for half the game.
The club have fvcked up the last 2 summer transfer windows, let's just pray it's not 3 on the bounce.

Arsenal are primed for another summer transfer battle with Liverpool, this time over Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez.

Following the club record £42.5million capture of Mesut Ozil last summer, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to make another marquee signing with Sanchez his No 1 target.

Barcelona are prepared to let the Chile international leave as new manager Luis Enrique stamps his authority on the club.

And the Gunners have opened talks with Barcelona with a view to making a £22m offer for Sanchez.

However, Arsenal will probably have to raise their offer as Liverpool have already discussed a £30m bid.

Liverpool did complete one deal on Wednesday, taking Kevin Stewart, 20, on a two-year deal after the defender left Tottenham.

Southampton have no intention of selling defender Dejan Lovren in the summer.

The centre-back was one of Southampton's key players last season after joining from Lyon last summer, leading to speculation that he could be on his way to a bigger side.

Premier League trio Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old's situation at St Mary's Stadium, where there seems to be an exodus of key players.

The Saints have already parted ways with three players this summer, with Luke Shaw joining Manchester United, while Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert have signed for Liverpool.

Spurs were thought to be leading the chase for the Croatia international, with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino hoping for a reunion at White Hart Lane.

However, reports claim new manager Ronald Koeman is keen to keep hold of Lovren as he prepares for his debut campaign in the Premier League.

Southampton are in no rush to continue selling as they have a potential £60m to play with in the transfer market to start rebuilding the squad.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle are in the race to sign Manchester City defender Micah Richards, who has been allowed to leave the Etihad, Express reports.

Richards has been playing second-fiddle to first choice right back Pablo Zabaleta and with the free signing of Bacary Sagna from Arsenal, is now well behind in the pecking order.

The 26-year-old currently has one year left on his contract and is now a target for the Premier League trio, with all clubs keen to sign a right sided defender.

Richards has been unlucky with injuries last season and hasn't featured much under Manuel Pellegrini, and Man City are willing to let the Englishman go at a cut-price fee.

The Gunners have been keeping an eye on Richards for some time, and with the chase for Toulouse's Serge Aurier currently stalled, could make a bid to revive Richard's career.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is also a fan of the powerful defender.

Must say atm I'm far from "happy" Eagle.

Looking at your display although midfield is strengthened we still need better than Toure as an alternate CB plus a keeper to supply some real competition for Mignolet. The LB position is still far from sorted, not even sure what Enriques condition/long term future is. A wide player is still required and I'd like a lot more quality than Ricky Lambert alongside Sturridge.

I'm glad the Lovren deal has fallen through, he's not bad but he's no better than the defenders already at the club.
I wouldn't mind Richards though. His power and ariel ability would come in very handy at the back, especially with Mingolet being terrible under the high ball.

Marseille are ready to pounce for Liverpool and Chelsea target Lucas Ocampos.

The 19-year-old Monaco star burst on to the scene two years ago as a fresh-faced prodigy drawing comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo following his performances for River Plate in his native Argentina.

Mega-rich French side Monaco snapped him up ahead of a host of Premier League sides but his progress has since stuttered at the club.

He started just 11 league matches last season but still managed to return an impressive five goals.

He has some big names ahead of him in the pecking order, including Colombia stars James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao and former Chelsea target Joao Moutinho, who are keeping him out of the team's attack most weeks.

He was nowhere near making Argentina's World Cup squad and that may now make him consider his future.

Arsene Wenger has close ties with Monaco and he could be alerted to the young forward's situation and be interested in resurrecting his faltering career, if he can beat Marseille to the punch.

I keep coming into this read hoping I'm going to read us linked with a name that genuinely excites...
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
