Liverpool FC remain very much interested in Alexis Sanchez - but now face a battle with Premier League champions Manchester City, according to Goal.

Manuel Pellegrini is thought to be a huge admirer of his fellow Chilean, with City asking Barca to keep them updated on developments.

The website believe Arsenal head the race for Sanchez, but the Reds and Manchester United supposedly remain in the hunt.

It has also been revealed Brendan Rodgers tried to bring Arjen Robben to Anfield last summer.

Jamie Carragher told the Daily Mail the Reds targeted Robben before the 2013 Champions League final, but the Dutchman's winner against Borussia Dortmund scuppered any hopes.

Meanwhile, Anfield could see changes afoot in the goalkeeping department, with Mexico's Guillermo Ochoa supposedly a target.

The Daily Express say Ochoa, one of the stars of the World Cup, could be brought in on a free transfer to provide competition for Simon Mignolet.

But Pepe Reina may be on his way out, according to reports in Italy, with suggestions the Spaniard wants to move to Napoli once more.

The 31-year-old is wanted back in Italy after he helped the club win the Italian Cup and qualify for the Champions League during his season-long loan.

Reina seemingly wants to return to Naples, while Rafa Benitez's side want another loan deal.

Finally, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have linked Ivory Coast full back Serge Aurier with a move to Anfield - but say PSG lead the race.

The paper mentions both Liverpool and Arsenal having interest in the Toulouse World Cup star, but the French champions lead the way.

Arsenal and Liverpool could fight it out for the signature of Costa Rica star Keylor Navas, after his goalkeeping heroics saw his side through to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Both Premier League sides are in the market for a new stopper this summer.

And Navas has caught the eye in Brazil, impressing throughout the group stage before stealing the show as Costa Rica saw off Greece to reach the last eight.

The Levante keeper, 27, is also a target for Atletico Madrid who are preparing for Chelsea to recall loanee Thibaut Courtois, and Navas' buy-out clause of just £6.5m could yet see other clubs join the chase.

'Navas is the best keeper in Spain and I think he is the best keeper at the World Cup. He has made some really great saves - of course the penalty - and I think he will end up at a great, great club,' said Costa Rica's assistant coach Paulo Wanchope.

'A lot of our players are playing for their future and we will see what happens with the likes of [midfielder] Yeltsin Tejeda or Navas.'

£30m for Markovic? He is a quality player and could go onto be real special but think £30m is going overboard. Probably will be negotiated down although also been mentioned he has a £20m release clause.

Think teams are going to try there luck in terms of asking price, knowing that we could potentially be sitting on a pile of cash from a possible sale of Suarez

Andoni Zubizarreta confirmed today Barcelona have received offers for Liverpool and Arsenal target Alexis Sanchez.

Another player being touted to England, Pedro, however, is "not transferable."

English clubs have been strongly linked with a move for Chilean international Alexis, and Zubizarreta confirmed he could leave Camp Nou this summer.

"Regarding the future of Alexis Sanchez, there have been offers for the player," the 52-year-old said.

"But I do not know how it will all end - we are looking for a solution which will be best for everyone.

"Pedro, however, is not transferable. I count on Pedro for the future."

If we can get in Sanchez as part of the Suarez deal then I'm game for that, can't help but feel we'll need a new striker tho, Luis will be a difficult one to replace, in goals and assists - the guy is just an absolute beast of a player (scuse the pun). Then we need a couple of defenders and I think we're good to go  :)

PREMIER LEAGUE pair Liverpool and Newcastle are keeping tabs on Rennes defender Sega Coulibaly.

According to reports, Brendan Rodgers and Alan Pardew have their scouts watching 18-year-old Coulibaly who is also attracting interest from Fiorentina and Sevilla.

The Magpies are thought to be particularly keen as they have sent Steve Nickson to watch him in action.

The powerful defender is one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1 and he was a regular for Rennes' reserve side last season.

The French outfit are determined to keep hold of Coulibaly as they are planning to fast-track him into their first team next season.

But Liverpool and Newcastle are hoping they can lure the talented France Under-18 international with the promise of a more lucrative contract and the possibility of stepping up to Premier League level.

Rennes expect to receive a number of offers in the coming weeks as the transfer window kicks into gear.

Don't know if you guys have heard about this, but Man City have singed Fernando Reges from Porto for 12 million, a player we were linked with during the winter. Maybe he doesn't exactly fit our playing style but we could definitely use a player of his strength and energy. For 12 million it looks like a good deal for them.

Liverpool step up interest in Southampton defender Dejan Lovren

Lallana signs but Anfield club plan new raid on St Mary’s

Liverpool are ready to turn their attentions to strengthening their defence after completing the £25 million transfer of Adam Lallana from Southampton and making progress on moves for other attacking targets.

Brendan Rodgers wants Dejan Lovren to become the third Southampton player to move to Anfield this summer, after Lallana and Rickie Lambert. The Liverpool manager is also hoping to strike a deal with Chelsea for Ryan Bertrand after becoming frustrated with Seville’s refusal to lower their £20 million asking price for Alberto Moreno

From The Express
Liverpool eye swoop for Arsenal target Mario Balotelli if Luis Suarez is sold to Barcelona

BRENDAN RODGERS is lining up a stunning bid to snatch Mario Balotelli from Arsenal's clutches if Liverpool decide to sell Luis Suarez.

Disgraced Uruguay striker Suarez is on the verge of joining the Catalan club with Barcelona chief Andoni Zubizarreta publicly praising the striker.

According to Tuttosport, Balotelli is the man Rodgers believes can fill Suarez's boots.

The Italian hot-shot is one of the most sought-after players in Europe with Arsenal, Tottenham, Napoli and Fiorentina chasing the striker.

Balotelli's agent, Mino Raiola, has hinted that Balotelli is keen to return back to England.

He said: "Maybe it was a mistake to bring Mario back to Italy.

"For him it is essential to go where he is loved, and at AC Milan some people love him and some do not."

If Arsenal stall on a move for Balotelli then Liverpool would lead the race to sign the controversial former Manchester City star.

Suarez could be sold for as much as £80m while Balotelli could be snared for £30m leaving the Anfield outfit with plenty change to spare.

Hopefully it's just press *****, skills aside surely we wouldn't replace one self centred nutter with another !!!

not just a nutter though is he? he's a complete fruit loop! Makes Suarez's desire to eat everyone look tame with some of the stunts this nugget has pulled off! Ballotelli, wouldn't touch him with a barge pole!

Do not see why we are going after Bertrand. Flanagan is alot better.

If Sanchez comes with the Suarez deal surely that puts any chance of signing Shaqiri as we would have too many players playing that same position.

Cant See us getting Baloteli as much as i think h would be a great signing he and Sturridge would want to play centrally and they both have attitude problems if they dont get their own way.

Defence needs strengthening as does a decent back up keeper.

After prising Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton, Liverpool are plotting another raid on St Mary's as they look to strengthen their defence.

Manager Brendan Rodgers wants to make Dejan Lovren his third signing from Southampton this summer, but the centre-back could cost as much as £15 million, according to widespread reports.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand, who worked with Rodgers when the Northern Irishman was head of the West London club's academy.

Strengthening a defence that leaked 50 goals in 38 Premier League games is a priority for Rodgers, but he has been frustrated in attempts to sign Sevilla's Alberto Moreno, with the Spanish club refusing to lower their £20m asking price.

Lovren would make it a trio of players moving to Anfield after the transfers of Lambert, for around £4m, and Lallana, who cost Liverpool £25m. Southampton are understood to want £15m for Lovren, a player they signed from Lyons for £8.5m just 12 months ago.

Southampton, however, are reluctant to sell and fear their squad will be decimated by transfers after already losing Lambert and Lallana, and seeing Luke Shaw move to Manchester United for up to £31m last month.

Bertrand is valued by Chelsea at around £8m and Rodgers has been a long-time admirer. Liverpool tried to sign him in January, only for Jose Mourinho to rule against selling to Premier League title rivals.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would have been encouraged by what he saw from Switzerland midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Bayern Munich playmaker is a prime target for the Anfield club next season and he shone against Argentina.

And if he can do it against Lionel Messi and Co, then he's likely to fit in very well at Liverpool.
