Liverpool are set to make a final 'take it or leave it' offer for Southampton captain Adam Lallana following weeks of stalemate talks.

The Reds have made Lallana their number one transfer target this summer, but have so far seen bids of £20million and then £23million rejected by the St Mary's club.

Brendan Rodgers has a list of alternatives if a deal can't be agreed, including Xherdan Shaqiri and Max Meyer, but he is preparing one final attempt to lure Lallana.

According to reports, the offer will be about £26million, with the majority of the cash set to be paid up front.

Southampton are willing to part with the England midfielder for the right price, but have so far been put off by Liverpool's structuring of an agreement.

It's hoped this new offer will be good enough to finally do business, with Liverpool expecting a quick answer from the Saints on what they want to do.

If an agreement can't be reached by the end of next week, the club will focus on doing deals for other options.

LIVERPOOL are poised to offer Manchester United £8m to bring Ecuador international Antonio Valencia to Anfield.

According to caughtoffside, Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his midfield options with the versatile 28-year-old, and a bid to Premier League rivals may be imminent.

The Northern-Irishman is a known admirer of Valencia, and his proficiency both as a winger and right-back only increases Rodgers' admiration.

It is believed that Valencia could be tempted to make the short trip down the M62 having endured an unsatisfactory season at the theatre of dreams.

And with the arrival of new manager Louis Van Gaal, Valencia may decide to opt for the more settled environment that Rodgers can offer.

Valencia is the lynchpin of his South-American side, and has only added to his reputation despite Ecuador's last minute defeat to Switzerland on Sunday.

The £8m figure would constitute a loss for United who paid Wigan £16m for the winger in 2009.

Barcelona attackers Bojan Krkic and Ibrahim Afellay are likely to be casualties of Luis Enrique's summer clear-out at the Nou Camp, leaving Liverpool and Arsenal to battle it out for their signatures.

With the retirement of long-serving centre-back Carles Puyol and the likely departures of Xavi and Victor Valdes, the new Barca boss is planning for the future and has deemed Bojan and Afellay surplus to requirements in Spain.

Both players are likely to be made available for cut-price fees and would relish the challenge of Premier League football, added to the fact that each player has a point to prove.

Bojan, who became the youngest player to appear for the club in La Liga at the age of 17 in 2007, has struggled to become a first-team regular at Barca and joined Roma on a permanent deal in 2011 before Barca exercised their buyback clause and brought him back to the club less than two seasons later.

After impressing for Holland in the 2010 World Cup, Afellay signed for the Spanish giants in January 2011 but the 28-year-old has been blighted with injuries ever since - including suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training.

Subsequently, the former PSV star was loaned out to Schalke 04, and despite being back at Barca, he is not part of Enrique's first-team plans.

Markovic or Sanchez please Brendan, anyone else then forget it, I'd rather see Ibe getting a chance than waste more money on players who are no better than the players we've already got.
Looking at his performances for Birmingham and his fleet footed end of season cameo against Shamrock Rovers Ibe must be getting very near to the first team squad.

Could we just forget about Lallana already, I'm getting sick of it. If they don't want to sell, they don't want to sell. Plenty of other alternatives, Sanchez, Markovic, even Shaqiri I wouldn't mind as long as the price isn't too high.

As good as he is he's not really going to take us onto another level is he. I wouldn't say he's better than coutinho and I wouldn't say he's miles better than Henderson... I dont really fancy him out wide as he's more of a midfielder than a forward and I think we would lose goal threat if he played wide.

I do like the lad and think he's a really good player, but twenty five million? I reckon thirty would get us lovren and begovic and I know which positions I'd rather see the money spent on.

Liverpool are lining up a £15million raid on Real Madrid for their German midfield power house Sami Khedira.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to beef up his transfer activity in the coming days and adding a tough-tackling defensive midfielder to his squad is a priority.

Khedira, who is part of the Germany squad competing at the World Cup is Brazil, is thought to be available this summer with Madrid ready to cash in on a player who has been ravaged by injury in the last 18 months.

Both parties see a move away as ideal, and Liverpool believe £15million could be enough to get him out of Madrid.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, but Liverpool believe they are strong favourites in the race.

The 27-year-old would bring bags of experience and quality to a Liverpool midfield which often left the back four unguarded at times last season, costing them vital points.

Sanchez looks like a quality player, though Juventus bound from what I've read. I think in a midfield three Lallana is a good shout, Khedira too.

I'm more bothered about everything that's going to come from Spain about Luis now though...

Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Liverpool have not given up on signing Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno but are unlikely to meet the current asking price of £20m.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has made Moreno one of his top summer targets but has been frustrated in his attempts to land the defender so far with the Spanish club turning down the club's £16m offer.

Recent reports have claimed Tottenham are interested but while Liverpool have not yet given up hope of landing the Spain international they are ready to turn to other targets soon if they are unable to negotiate a deal with Sevilla.

Chelsea's Ryan Bertrand is under consideration, while Sporting Lisbon's Argentina international Marcos Rojo and Ricardo Rodriguez, the Switzerland left back who plays in Germany for Wolfsburg, is another who has been mentioned.

Rodgers is keen to strengthen at left-back as John Flanagan was deployed there in the second half of the season even though he is a natural right-back, while Jose Enrique spent much of last term on the sidelines injured.

Maurico Isla says he would be happy to remain on the books at Juventus for as long as the Serie A champions want him.

The highly-rated full-back is currently shining on the World Cup stage for Chile, and his efforts are generating mounting transfer speculation.

Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be closely monitoring the 26-year-old as they weigh up the merits of summer approaches.

Isla, though, claims to be settled in Italy, having spent his entire senior career to date with Udinese and Juve.

He insists that he has expressed no desire to move on, with any call on his future now resting with Juventus.

Isla told La Tercera: "I am working hard for both Chile and Juventus. For me it is all good.

"Will I stay at Juventus? I know that the fans support me. I have learned from many players at Juventus and continue to work hard.

"If the coach wants me to return, then I am glad because I want to do my best at the World Cup and then return to Juventus."

I've gone off the idea of Lallana myself, Infact after being linked with the likes of Sanchez and Markovic signing him will be a bit of a let down.
He looks almost certain to join after the World Cup though, apparently he's desperate to sign for us and will tell  Southampton as much when he gets home.
