Didn't see the game but heard some radio commentary. Spurs seemed to have the lions share of possession but didn't do much with it, played with just one up front (Defoe), West Ham played with no recognised strikers but grabbed 3 goals in a 15 minute spell midway through the second half, commentators were raving about West Hams 3rd goal scored by ex Man Utd kid Morrison.

After match phone in Spurs fans at the game complaining their side didn't look like a team, just 11 individuals lacking cohesion, fingers pointed at new signings Paulinho, Eriksen, Soldado and Lamela who all featured.

I made that point when they made the signings. They aren't bad signings but it was always going to be an uphill struggle to make that many new players play like a team.

Exactly. I said the same thing, their team will need a lot of time to gel. Until that happens, it will be too late for them.

Thanks for the info woof.

EDIT: I just saw the highlights from the match and West Ham were extremely lucky to score their first 2 goals. Morrison's goal (the third goal) was amazing though.

If a championship cannot be decided over the course of 38 games, then I believe there shouldn't be a one-off game to decide the outright winner as it would be extremely unfair for one set of fan.

More so if "that" game is decided via a controversial referee's decision which is happening way too often now.

Some might not agree but I will go for a Joint Champion

Southampton are that team at the start of the season who play above their station. who have thought they'd have taken 4 points from away games against us and utd.

on another note - how good was wilshere's goal?

Credit where credit is due, the goal was phenomenal. Brilliant to watch.

This made me laugh - Someone uploaded Jack Wilshere's goal to Porn Hub pic.twitter.com/cmJBvjJGuK

That one signing has turned their whole season - Ozil will be the signing of the season and could win the title for them

That's what happens when big money is spent

:Oo:

Yeah ?

OK Benny, we'll conveniently forget about

Kaka to Madrid for £56 million
Torres  to Chelsea for £50 million
Ibrahimovic to Barcelona £40 million + Samuel Eto
Carroll to Liverpool £35 million
Robinho to Man City £32.5 million

It's not always about how much you spend, more often than not it's about what you spend it on !

Christ I'd forgotten about him ! and on further reflection there's loads more, Veron, Denilson, Keane(Robbie) etc etc etc

Main point is that simply spending tons of money even on highly rated players is no guarantee that their previous success will transmit to the new club.

There have been over 200 players bought for over £20mil - you will get players that don't work out for various reasons ( regardless of price ) but when looking to buy quality players the price will reflect their ability. There will be ver b e any guarantees and not every transfer works out for varying reasons but if you spend big on quality the chances of them working out will be greatly IMO than spending cheap on unknowns. There is always rare cases but are they really the norm ?

Also Ibra is a quality player - at Barce he still scored a goal every other game despite suffering with injury twice during the season and also won the title. Kaka was quality when he first arrived at Madrid but suffered from injuries throughout his time there.Carroll wasn't a 35 mil player and was a prime example of massively overpriced. Shevchenko arrived about 5 years too late and was a prime example of an owner buying players.Despite us slating how poor Torres has been he has helped them win consecutive trophies in Europe and is getting sharper.

The point is if you want to buy quality players they will cost big money - That's how both City and Chelsea have reached the top - by spending big money on players , that's how the Mancs stayed on top - spending big money , and now Arsenal have stepped up a level because they spent big money on quality and it's why Spurs will come through. That's how teams find sustained success now - not by spending 5-7 mil on unknown foreign players but by digging deep and getting the quality.
