I don't get the Given signing, tbh. He's 37, not finished yet as a keeper, but a better backup than Jones? Is Jones gone? I do rate Given, but don't get the logic...
As for the Moses link, stumped by that one .

I do find the early negativity of some posters baffling given the two wins from two in the league. We are obviously also through in the cup with a boss game to look forward to at united. We should be going into the united game tomorrow with real confidence and excitement.  On the new arrivals I don't know too much about sakho but he's highly rated and its a position we desperately needed cover in so I'm happy.

spurs signing ericksen for £11m is a bit disappointing, we payed that for borini.
by all accounts ericksen was pretty keen to come here too.

They cry about wanting a centre back, we expect to sign two and they're not good enough, its just typical moaning @rseholes if you ask me Ben. I think we could probably do with something in the middle of the park but once Suarez is back our attack will be healthy
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I would have loved a powerful centre midfielder like diame but if these defenders come in and we get moses on loan I will be happy with what we have done.

And to think I received a PM from a mod over a year ago requesting that I moderated my behaviour towards BTN. I find the irony of your post more than a tad amusing..............

Early in the window some posters were moaning that our purchases were no better than what we already have. I suggested at the time that it was early days and we needed to display some patience. So far Mingolet,Toure and Aspas are showing positive signs. Alberto is one for the future. Early days but not quite the doom and gloom senario that several posters expected. And it looks like we might spend a bit more before the window closes.

Call me deluded I really don't mind. I would rather enjoy the ride rather than try and jump off when the going gets tough. I wonder if fans from other clubs hurl a constant steam of abuse at their owners if they fail to buy the best players in the world ? I prefer to behave like a fan rather than a small child. I have supported LFC for over 40 years and the memories are fantastic. If I had gone to Everton for my first game rather than Anfield my memories would be very different. Not disastrous but different. We fail to appreciate what we have got at times and demand too much.

I do believe that members need to refrain from name calling......as for individual posts...if they are sh&te , then that is what they are....I know I will be at the game tomorrow in a confident mood and hopefully that will play a small part in helping my team to victory.....I won't be sitting their moping like a frumpy teenager

Hopefully the atmosphere keeps on improving

The other week there was someone playing on an I Pad in front of me.

And Liverpool fans will always demand the best - that's because it what we are used too. Liverpool fans have seen owners rip the club apart and want to see the current set produce the goods , heard lots of talk from them about "under promising but over delivering" "can compete with anyone in the transfer market" - just like the previous set its more hollow talk and failing to back to the words with actions . All summer long we have known we need a CB so why have they waited until the last couple days when prices get even more inflated. Getting Sakho in is good - no complaints there. Can't understand getting Ilori in then sending Wisdom on loan ? It's the same as getting Alberto in and sending Suso out on loan ? . Given I can't understand and we shouldn't go anywhere near Moses

We knew that we needed to improve our squad/first team dramatically this summer and we have fell considerably short and the results at the end of the season will show that. If the owners believe that CL is that crucial to our success then they really needed to back the manager for better signings this summer. Feel the owners have let the manager down

Benny did we need to make dramatic improvements ? We had a very good second half of the season last time out. If we had sturridge and Coutinho the whole season some think we wouldnt have been far off. I actually agree about suso and Alberto but still think Alberto looks like he will be a player. For me with toure and sakho we have hopefully strengthened the defence now. I think given is an upgrade on jones and I rate moses. Like sturridge who alot wrote off before he signed I think he will surprise people. But my glass is half full whereas yours isnt just empty, its smashed to bits on the floor.

There's a picture of Sakho sitting in a chair and wearing a Liverpool outfit, but I think it's just Cissokho :D

  I've seen that picture.

Sakho has pretty much signed for Liverpool. Not sure why it's not official yet but he was sitting in Melwood in his full Liverpool training kit. It's definitely not cissokho! haha.

Can't understand getting Ilori in then sending Wisdom on loan ?

We knew that we needed to improve our squad/first team dramatically this summer and we have fell considerably short and the results at the end of the season will show that. If the owners believe that CL is that crucial to our success then they really needed to back the manager for better signings this summer. Feel the owners have let the manager down[/quote]

To address your first point, I think its as simple as the manager feels Ilori is worth bringing to the club. A 20 year old, 6'3 ball playing centre half that reportedly broke sprint records in training at Sporting. If signing someone he clearly rates highly means sending Wisdom out on loan to gain the experience he won't get here this season, then that's fine by me. It's not as if he's selling him, just a loan. He has had the chance to work with Wisdom, he now feels he can benefit from playing week in week out. Now he can work Ilori for the year, watch him in training at close quarters and help him develop his game here. Makes sense to me. I trust the manager 100%.

I'm also not quite sure how the owners have let the manager down? Is it there fault that Mkhitaryan turned us down to sign for last seasons Champions league finalists? Or that Diego Costa stayed at Atletico Madrid? Willian himself didn't know who he wanted to sign for. Starts following a few of our players on Instagram, then a few Spurs players, then having a medical at Tottenham before signing for Chelsea. Sometimes you can only do so much. They all decided there future lied elsewhere, bad luck for us. The manager has now decided Moses on loan for the season is the best option now, I'm sure he'll go back to the drawing board and try to find the next big first 11 type signing we'd all like to see and try to bring them in at the nearest opportunity. It's not always as simple as we'd like it to be. But there's no point going out and buying 4th or 5th choices for big money just for the sake of it.

Try to have some faith.

Yes I believe we did need to make dramatic improvements to get ourselves into the top 4. Just look at the improvements Spurs have made to move up one place in the League. To get into the top 4 one team has to drop down and we need to get past that team plus the others challenging.

Now we all know that the top 3 are sorted - City , Chelsea and Utd - that will be the top 3. That leaves one spot open for a group of 3 teams to grab - us , Spurs and Arsenal. Arsenal are currently struggling to get quality into the team so will possibly drop out but they have Wenger and no matter how times they get written off they always manage to get into the CL and then there is Spurs who have just spent £90mil on quality players - they have bought some very highly rated players in the areas where they needed improvements.

We IMO just haven't improved enough in the crucial areas where we needed too - Sakho could solve a few problems at the back but still think we will be dodgy at set pieces and crosses. Our midfield lacks a lot of quality in two crucial areas - creativity and strength. It has a lot of energy in Lucas and Henderson but just doesn't look a midfield that will control a game and dominate an opposition. The forward line is our best part - Coutinho is a gem creating but stop him and you stop the link to Sturridge, it also lacks some real width and pace.

We could have solved a lot of our issues getting three of the players Spurs did - Paulinho , Lamela and Eriksen - strength , creativity , pace and width - 4 crucial areas where I think we need to improve to get into the top 4.

You know whats most annoying about your posts ? The way you post as if things are fact. The top 3 are not certain after 3 games. Granted they have a good chance but it's not nailed on. United haven't signed anyone yet and have lost ferguson. Spurs look to have done good business but they had a nice 90 million coming in from bale. We didnt. Net spend after this window could be similar to ours as they got about 6 million for huddlestone. We probably are outsider s for the top 4 but i think we will be closer than last season and could get in there. Momentum can be a big thing. Win tomorrow and its game on.
