It's frustrating though, we had a chance to make a real marquee signing.
Sometimes you have to pay slightly over the odds to get quality in.
It's this sort of signing that could have got us to 4th.

Disappointing if true. It looks as if the club is being over cautious following some of our less successful big money signings of recent years and Rodgers is missing out on his key targets as a result.

I would sooner have Arda Turan anyway ,now there is a player who would smash walls down to sign for us .

There's not a great deal on the market to push us on (look at Arsenal and Man U), its been a difficult window for a lot of clubs. I have faith he'll get someone of the right quality for the right price. The window's not closed yet, chill the f*ck out

I wasn't being sarcy - being deadly serious. I do expect the next sort of signing to be along the lines of Sinclair.

If there isn't a great deal to push us on then Spurs must have done wonders. They seem to have found players. There are plenty players out there that can push us on and improve the squad - it's the club showing the desire and intent to get those players and not be too worried about saving money. Willian may not be worth 30m Euros but Anzhi paid 32 mil for him in Jan so they are going to look to get as much back as possible and Spurs offered that and a deal we have spent over a week sorting out is prob signed sealed and delivered by Spurs in 48 hours.

Every player is on the market at the right price - it's whether clubs are willing to pay the right price.

didnt babel say if liverpool put a bid in for ericksen we `wouldnt be dissappointed` with his answer or something like that?
i reckon he`d come here, and we`d get him for half the cost of willian.

Babel did but since the Eriksen has said that he will only leave Ajax if he stays in the CL because he can't see the point of dropping out of the CL. Also said he will sign a new contract the minute the window closes to ensure that Ajax get a fee for him. Arsenal were rumoured to be looking at him now as are the Mancs. If we really wanted Eriksen then the club could have looked months ago at him.

Benny your so negative its hard to read. This is 100% serious, I am prepared to bet you 100 that we accumulate more points this season than last. Thatbwill obviously be more than under kenny the season before and despite a negative net spend. Y ou in ?

I'm sick of reading petty little digs at benny on here to be honest. He might look at things from a different angle to most of us, but he always backs up what he says with interesting points.

Losing Willian the "marquee signing" at this stage of the window to our biggest rivals for 4th in spurs is criminal IMO, its like losing Suarez to Arsenal. A signing like Eriksen would make up for the loss ... but it will end up being someone like Sinclair on deadline day and we will pay over the odds for him too.

You be as negative as you want. Some of us will be happy with how the season started and not look at the worst case scenario of everything.
