I just seem to want better from the club - never seen the standards so low in the last 30 plus years. There almost seems an acceptance of how low we currently are and excuses are looked for and positions in tables are accepted as good enough.

Signing a quality player would have improved our chances. I want a team that puts my club into the top level of club football not scrape around the mid table places. I don't want just "capable" individuals.

Match day for me isn't a pleasant experience at the moment because its very sad seeing a once great club now performing so poorly. Yes e cup is half empty - because there is nothing to fill it bar a talented Brazilian called Coutinho but don't achieve CL and he will leave as well and then maybe reality will dawn and heads will remove themselves from the sand and eyes will be opened up.

There is a phrase that flies around the ground and the forums and twitter etc - Accepting Mediocrity - very apt for our club right now.

This is where you lose most of the board. You're by no means any different in wanting the best for the club, but you seem to be in total denial that there almost wasn't a club 3 years ago. We were in financial ruin and most people on the board have recognized that and understand that we will have a period of restructuring. Whether we like it or not is irrelevant to the direction of the club and is by no means a differentiator between you and the rest of us who have moved on looking to the future. You made a comment about football and business being detached from each other and I think that's where you lose your credibility as that plainly isn't and has never been the case.

The reality is that our reputation was damaged by the goings on at the end of the Rafa tenure and what H&G did to the club. Rafa taking things to the press and the fans making their dislike for the owners public did absolutely nothing to help matters in my opinion and gave the media a carcass to feed off of for the last few years. It is no surprise that no one at the top end of football wants to come and play for us, we're given a wide berth as we were damaged terribly, but not irreparably.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see we didn't get a sugar daddy, instead we got a team of businessmen who do care about ins and outgoings and recognized the need for stability. In my opinion there's almost nothing that I would disagree with when those factors are a consideration. The team IS more stable than it was 3 yrs ago, the ins and outs appear to be under control and we're in the process of implementing a team that realizes the vision of the manager which is clearly intended to play attractive football that will make Liverpool appeal to fans across the globe and subsequently attract an increasingly higher caliber of player. I think most people recognize that here, hence the air of positivity around the board.

Don't mistake that for a lack of knowledge or ambition. You have to be realistic about the position we find ourselves in and harping on about us being a mid-table club with reflecting attitudes isn't helping and is missing the point.

We should do our dealing behind closed doors. I'm not sure Willian is a huge loss ,but I can't accept deals are lost because of indiscretion. It would be good bringing a counterpart for Coutinho ,to upgrade our creativity in the middle and as backup for this long season.

But Yeh ,Spurs are Turds.

That would be lovely thinking if other clubs weren't going out and improving their teams massively by spending lots of money.

Yes the owners do appear to be more concerned in the financial matters etc but the top players won't want to join a club without CL football and we won't get CL with the way the owners operate - you can highlight those words and frame them if you want but sadly I'm very confident in those words and it hurts. The longer we are out of the CL the harder it will be to get back in it. If Spurs do sort out those transfers then that's the 4th spot gone - no doubt about that.

Remember these are owners that's stated "can compete with any club in the transfer market" they also stated "CL is crucial to our club" - its lots of words from them but have they backed those words up ? No - we lost out on players last summer because of them and it looks again we are going to lose out on players because of them.

All I have heard from the owners and manager in the last 12 months and further is lots of words but they have yet to actually match those words with actions. When has the model that the owners follow ever proven to work in this country ? We have an unproven manager who I believe will struggle to attract the right players because he is unknown - we have a CEO who has proven to be utterly useless in the role and we have owners who I believe didn't realise how much money was needed to make a club successful. Henry didnt mind spending 70mil to buy a newspaper last week.

Spurs probably won't start so great. I'd think there would be a period where they have to gel with their entire lineup almost different than last year, just the defense that seems the same at all.

BUt f*cking hell, Willian and Lamela? we could have at least jumped into the Lamela deal and drove the price up to see if they'd pull from the Willian deal, not that it would do much. We seem to be playing too nice and it's screwing us.

Rodgers said we'd like to get 1 or 2 more signings in before the window closes, and I felt those were Cissokho and Willian. Well now it looks like we're just going to get Cissokho in, and that's our window. I think it's too late to go in for anybody else, and nobody is really available.

Talk is that Willian is due to have a medical in the next few days at Tots.... Surely, if it was a matter of 2mil, then we should have matched it. We need to bring in some more quality, today.

Don't think Ian Ayre is the person to engage in these activities. We need someone that is able get deals sorted quickly, prefebly behind closed doors, though appreciate this is hard to do in this day and age.

There is plenty of time for deals to be done but not for us who seem to take weeks to sort out a signing.

The manager told us that the first 11 signings would be next - since then we have loaned a left back !

I like Rodgers personally but its Ayre I take issue with.

If he is the guy we send to negotiate and convince top players to come to Liverpool then its
little wonder we have these problems.

We don't like bidding wars either, we agree a price and then hope that's enough and fold the
moment another club enters the race. The excuse then is that if a player is looking to play
us off against another club they don't have their heart in it which is not the case at all.

A week we have negotiated with Willian and Spurs come in and within 24 hours bang, its done.

Billy Hogan was also apparently part of the negotiating team along with Ayre

its a sad state of affairs if we lost out on him over 2 million fooking euro and leads to the question why we even bothered in the first place.

Other rumours have us valuing him at 17mil Euros and Spurs offering the 30mil Euros that they wanted.

If Willian doesn't want to come to us, it's his lost... We probably would have been stronger with  Willian in the team... but reports are saying spurs are buying him for 30 million pounds! not euros... not worth it IMHO... there are plenty of other fish...

Well, if he's decided to go to Tots..well that's that then. I still think we will bring in quality before the window shuts.
